A. An atheist who lives his life with the certainty that there isn't a God peering into his life judging him, and subsequently lives his life as himself. Perhaps sinning on the way, but more or less just doing what he does, without any thought that there will be accountability for it.

B. A Christian who believes in hell, believes that it exists for certain, tells others they will go to hell for not believing in what they believe... and still sins all the time, constantly praying to be forgiven for the same sins over and over and over. With a firm belief that they can sin, and as long as they feel bad about it, they will be forgiven by asking God.

Note: The atheist doesn't believe it exists, and the Christian does with all of their heart. So who has the better excuse in reality. And this idea in itself I do not pose as an excuse for atheists... because all atheists know that we don't need an excuse (all part of not believing in the first place).

What do you have to say?

I don't believe in heaven or hell, but with this situation, I would say B (the Christian), because that person should know better than to play around with salvation, or to tempt God to always forgive him. Part of the Christian belief, supposedly, is repentance -- the turning away from sin. If believers are living as though they can do whatever they want and still be saved, then what are they thinking when they have no regard for Jesus and willingly give in to temptation? That is nothing except rejection of their savior's love.

A: why because he refuses to belive in Christ in the first place.
Lets say it was some one who never heard the word or didnt know it was possible to belive in Christ , that person will be judged on the laws they belived in .
The Christian that is sinning probably will make heaven , maybe by the slimist chance but as long as they confess to God and try not to sin God is merciful. He may lose out on some reward or other but has made it to heaven .
Then we have a Christian by name only saying he is one and does what ever,.They may make church once and a while ,sins who knows like what hardly ever confesses goes , to make impression. Dont think he will make it

Your question implies that you believe trying to be a good person is good enough. The Bible says it's not.

Hypothetically, say the requirement to go to heaven is to be able to jump across the grand canyon. In your example, the atheist (who doesn't bother anyone and just lives his life) can jump 20 feet, and the Christian (who you say pesters others and sins a lot) can only jump 10 feet. Obviously NEITHER will be going to heaven. The only way to get to the other side is to take the bridge - which is Jesus Christ.

anyone that don`t believe in forgiveness
anyone that ask for forgiveness but still repeat the same sin,-cause GOD is no stupid by the way. and that goes for everyone of you : atheist or not.
and
what do you mean by; so who has the better excuse in reality.
where do you put the word excuse. into religion? atheist?what?
the peoples on this earth treated me with abuses in many ways. emotionaly, mentally, physicaly. total neglection to abandonement from my own family. BUT!!! GOD is the ONE that gave me the love i needed and peace in my heart to live a better life today, i can tell you that. it`s no atheist peoples that loved me the best.
so, the ones that are likely to go to hell are the ones that do not do it`s best for loving, respecting, and live it`s life to the fullest with joy and forgiveness. you do not need religion to understand that. you just need common sense, understand how life works within nature, the way it recycle itself and then you can see more of GOD`s creation. us the peoples are just good to destroye everything HE did. and keep forgeting that this planet is your survival after all. too bad that you can`t see further than your nose the peoples. everything that you peoples are creating that is not from natural, do not grow back in the garden and don`t make us go for a hunt or fishing.
mechanical, chemical, superficial and on and on... that`s the world of today. we`re already on hell!!!

if you accept the definition of hell as the lack of god, then the atheist is already living in hell, and the christian is just going his superior than thou hypocritical way. I guess, once you are dead, you are dead, so the question is meaningless. Im not a big bible study, but i guess according to church dogma, the atheist is going to hell unless he gets saved by believing.

It's somehow a balanced situation.... The atheist doesn't believe in God but commits sins, and the Christian believes in the devil and sins a lot, praying to our Lord he won't get his @$$ burned to a crisp eternally when the time of judgement comes. It all comes down to how well they do in their lives....

Noone really has that right to judge and say whos going or not,,I only know if God said you have to accept His son to recieve eternal life then whoever has done that will go..It is alittle more than that, you have to walk in Gods will also,,you just can't say oh Jesus come in my heart without desiring to do what the Lords will is...

A. When the Atheist dies, his life ends and there is nothing more. That is the Atheist's belief.

B. When a Christian dies, he will stand before God who will determine his fate. You or I cannot know God's will and so we have no say in where this person's soul will go.

In my opinion there is no hell so it is all a moot point in my mind.
Someone responded by saying this was a stupid question. The only stupid questions are those that go unasked.
Thank you for posting one that required a bit of thought

I think both would. confession is no good with out true repentance if they keep committing the same sin with out concern they are not christian they do not have Christ in their life and that is what makes the difference.
