i personally have been avoiding tattooing my lower back because of the certain trend going, but my father recently died and i could think of no better place to put a memorial tattoo for him than on my lower back below my wings.
theres a pic of them here

i thought it would just add to the meaningfullness of it to have it below them. pretty much ive decided im getting it there, im just curious of peoples reactions, if you saw a very obvious memorial tattoo (a national symbol with a name above and dates below) on someones lower back, would you think it was a "tramp stamp" like i said ive already decided im going to place it there just curious of peoples reactions and thoughts.

I totally understand your reasoning, and respect it. However, people who just see it will probabaly think "Tramp Stamp" but who cares? They don't know you, and if they are fast enough to make the judgement then you probably wouldn't even want to know them anyways.

Good luck with the tat & I'm really sorry for the loss of your father.

Personally, I think the whole "tramp stamp" phrase is stupid. I have a tattoo on my lower back and I've never once called it a tramp stamp. I think its offensive and stupid that people call it this. I got one there b/c I thought it would look the best on my body and my tattoo artist thought it was a good location for my tattoo. I can't stand it when people call it a tramp stamp. If you want it there, get it there. Who cares what other people think?! Its your body and you decide where your tattoo is going. I wouldn't avoid this area just b/c of what other people may think. I think its an excellent location for a tattoo.

The term 'tramp stamp' is derogatory by definition, and was probably coined by some half-witted narrow-minded geek in the first place. I put on a lot of them, and the girls that get them are as normal as anyone else. As for your memorial tattoo, put it wherever you want. It's YOUR tattoo!

I like the wings you already have, but I think maybe putting his name above the wings, and the dates below the wings might look a little better...or quite possibly if you can in the middle...everything below the wings might look a bit odd.

I wouldn't think of it as a tramp stamp.

No, if you want to get it there, then go ahead. It doesn't matter whether people act stupid about it or not, that trend is stupid, not all people who have a tattoo there want it for that reason, it's just another place on your body to get one, not any different then the rest. :]
I'm sorry your dad died, I hope that getting the tattoo will help you feel a little better....<(' ')>

for people who refer to them as "tramp stamps" no matter what you get they will still call it that. it's just like people who are racist, they're not going to only be racist against certain people in that race, they generalize and stereotype all of them.
for people who don't call a lower back tattoo a tramp stamp, obviously they won't no matter what you get.

why doyou have to get it all the way at the bottom of your back? why not just under your wings?
good luck with whatever you decide.

I had my baby sons name there after he died. I love it when people ask me what it says, it is my que to talk about my son. I had another a few days ago, two stars one pink and one blue for each of my children just in from my hip bone. Don't worry about others opinion if you are happy with your decision thats all that matters.

There's always going to to be people out there that will refer to it as that. It's your body, put the tattoo where you think best.

Hun, if you want it there, get it there. No one's opinion is important but yours.

Some people have a negative association with tattoos in general - that it's "slutty" or "unfeminine" or whatever. But those ignorant people didn't stop you, right? So why should THESE ignorant people stop you?

Don't worry about it. :)

Gotta agree with Somebody here on this one - just under the wings is quite symbolic really.
