Why is it the Americans on the shows I watch communicate differently than Australians where I am from.

Australians generally tiptoe around things. Americans come right out and say it.
Other differences I have noticed is that young people are so much more outgoing and confident, and people in general are like this. It is like they have never experienced the tall popply syndrome like I and other Australians have.

I have a lot of respect for Americans and tend to have a lot of net American friends, and when I have talked to them on the phone you can really notice. Not being nasty but when an American speaks they do it with not as much sincerity or emotion as Australians, they just come out and say it. It takes a while to get used to the way they communicate and for them to get used to me. I also don't find their jokes funny and they do not find our jokes funny. It is also so fast to communicate with them that they say one thing you understand they move on to the next thing.

I think it may be to do with the amount of people they're exposed to?

I grew up in New Zealand and moved to Aussie when I was 16. I found Aussies to be so uncaring and rude (LoL! I'm one of them and don't think that now). New Zealanders are a lot more friendly and it's easier to make friends. I can only assume it's because there's less people.

I'm in a child care providers online group. I'm the only Aussie. Some of the things the American child care providers say shock me... there's no way my fellow child care workers or I could say the things to the parents the Americans do!

You need to get out more, honey...there are forward and backward people in every walk of life; from Australia and poverty-stricken, to rich Arabs and middle-class Japanese people. The more you travel, the less differences you'll see and the more individualistic people become. Remember: 'water seeks it's own level'; and in America, we're taught from an early age to be aggressive and bold in order to assert ourselves in business and sports, in music and love. I personally prefer the attitude of Aussie girls to American women, but that's a personal thing...I'm also considered rather bold, even for an American!

we just dont hold back, if something needs to be said say it. Every culture has a hard time communicating with one another. Accents are different. What you all find funny just may not be funny to us, vice versa. Its not that there is anything worng with either groups of people, it is just different lifestyles.

I know exactly what you mean.
Americans know what it means to be confident and independent.
Australians are introverted and jealous in comparison.
