I like all kinds of soups -- tomato and chicken noodle are particularly good during cold weather -- but my #1 absolute favorite soup is my grandmother's escarole soup. I call it her "kitchen sink" soup because it has everything but the kitchen sink in it (and the kitchen sink is full by the time you get done making it), but it's very similar to traditional Italian wedding soup. The main difference is my grandmother's soup is a beef stock instead of the chicken stock you find for Italian wedding soup, and Grandma's soup has a lot of extra stuff in it like barley, carrots, celery, onions, the escarole, plus the pastini and meatballs that are in Italian wedding soup. Too bad it takes almost an entire day to make, but when you make a pot it lasts for a LONG time, even if I end up giving soup away (and I usually do).

I live for soup in the Fall and winter and make a huge pot as often as possible. My favorites are:
Potato Leek
Roasted Red Pepper
Curried Squash
Carrot Ginger (although this is more of a spring/summery soup)

Found an excellent recipe for mushroom soup, it was in a Waitrose magazine I think, it is the best I have ever tasted, and that's after I cooked it (not a great cook, never gonna be either!).
Saying that, it's not my favourite, I think that is probably Tomato, spicy, cream of, not fussed.

I usually don't use a recipe when I make a soup, but when I do, I have two favorites. One is Italian Sausage Stew, and the other is a Tortellini Soup. Both nice and hearty, and perfect for a chilly night.

I love soup! My favorite is Slip pea soup. But Tomatoe isn't to far behind that.
I love baked potato soup from restaurants, I can't make it the same at home.
Also, lately I have been buying Broccoli and Cheddar.

pumkin soup
cress and potatoes soup
tomato soup
beef bouillon with small noodles
onion soup - great one - very cheap with cheese
mix of carrots-celery-tomato-potato-o... and onion fried in pork or goose grease - and the whole mixed and filtered - we call this " soupe passée "
Cook soup in large quantities and keep the extra in small boxes in you "deep-freezer" ( is that the right word )
