The 'logbook' is now a single sheet of paper called a V5.

It is still known as a 'logbook', because many years ago it was literally a small book, which kept a log of all the vehicle's previous owners.

The logbook is the V5 registration form and should be supplied with any car you buy if not you can obtain one from the DVLA swansea. Do not buy a car without this incase it is stolen etc

A DVLA log book is the owners document for a UK motor vehicle.

The DVLA issue these.

You should receive a slip from the previous owner to send for a new Log (now called registration document)

Its the registration document that states you are the registered owner of the vehicle.

I got confused when I first heard it referred to as a logbook as it is not actually a book at all.

once you got the vehicle, your information replaced into/might want to were crammed in on the major area (A4 length) - new keeper information/replace of address and on the fairway slip "New keeper supplement". the seller sends off the logbook informing DVLA that they at the on the spot are not from now on the keeper and your information will be logged in and despatched a sparkling logbook. interior the intervening time even as that occurs, you save the fairway "new keeper supplement" as evidence of recent keeper in case you got stopped and so on. interior the type of you no longer receiving a sparkling log e book, you fill in form V62 (replace logbook) and connect the "new keeper supplement" this may boost up the technique and also you is only no longer charged £25. in case you probably did no longer have the fairway "new keeper supplement" and had to fill in a V62 for replace logbook then you would possibly want to be charged £25.
