Jesus died on the cross for the sins of man. He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day, He rose from the dead in victory over death. Its not that you can do anything and still go to heaven. Its that your sins are forgiven and no longer there. When you truly believe that you are a sinner and need a savior and ask Jesus into your heart to be your savior because you truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose from the dead, you are accepting His perfect sacrifice as His payment for your sins. After that, you WANT to learn all about Jesus and you WANT to walk the way He teaches you to walk. He changes your heart to be more like His. It may take years, but you finally notice that you are not like you were before. I once thought the same thing. Ohhhh I can do what ever I want and still get to heaven. I was wrong. I have changed so much since those days. And am still learning and it is amazing how awesome God is.

He died for our sins so we wouldn't have to die - 1 Peter 3:18. If we don't accept Him as the substitution for our sins then we will one day have to pay (die) for our sins our self. It's Grace!
I gave my life to Jesus in 1975 while in prison and got out in 1976 and have dedicated my life to helping others as a result and have been doing so for 30 years now. WOW - it really last! Don't get me wrong it doesn't mean I have it all together or ever will because I surely don't and never will but I have His grace to fall into (Romans 5:20-1). His grace is what keeps me going and working for Him (1 Corinthians 15:8-10)

Because Christ took care of that for us already. I am not perfect so I can not die to forgive anyones sin, not even my own. So it would be a wasted gesture when instead I could take the time to explain what Christ's sacrifice means for the rest of the world.
By the way you can not die for your sins, you can only die because of your sins.

You know, smart, you've kind of got a point, though you aren't saying it the way I would.
We don't go and stand and ask our neighbors to nail us to the cross so we can die for our sins - but God does say in the Bible, talking about how Christ gave his life for us "Hereby we understand the love of God, because he laid down his life for us, and we should also lay down our lives for the brethren" 1 John 3:16.
So if Jesus died for us, why aren't we willing to die for Him if that's what it takes to reach others? I want to be.

We did, dear one, when we picked up our cross and followed Him. No, we don't think we are sinless..., 'all fall short of the glory of God'. But when you accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, He has covered our sins and redeemed us. One day you will be in need of a friend...., don't forget to look to Jesus, he loves unconditionally.

Forward thinking. Rereading your question, Christians do seem hypocritical now. Good thing I am not Christian, seems like a bad way to die, sins or not.

Jesus died for us not because he really wanted us to die for him also, He just wanted to extend our lives that Adam and Eve causes us to die.Jesus only showed us that there is really life after death and that we should learn to realize that even though we did commited sins GOD ALMIGHTY is there willing to forgive us that if we only ask forgiveness and promise not to commit any more immortal sins.

Because God wants us to live life on earth to His will the best we can. It's like a test to see if we should get to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. When He feels we're ready to come home, he'll make that decision. Killing ourselves won't get us into Heaven, it would be like slapping Him in the face to end the life he gave us. Also, He died for our sins and yours.

That would be like going to down your landlord and repaying your rent every day after the landlord had already paid the rent for you.
Sin has to be paid for, but only once. Rather then have to torture and kill each person on earth for their sins, God himself came down and made the payment. So we don't have to make it. But we do have to accept the payment that he made.
