You don't need a huge budget to enjoy yourself in Marmaris. Actually, I think this is the greatest time to go there, as the general tourist crowd will have lessened. Getting around should be easy, because central Marmaris is a flat place. There are dolmuş cars (minibuses people use like public buses) for cheap travel. And eateries generally advertise prices outside, so you will know what you'll pay in advance.
As for activities, again many are advertised in central Marmaris, but you can take trips to surrounding places by road, you can go on boat trips and I'm sure you can find open clubs for adults, too.
Enjoy.

We are going to Marmaris again on 28th, Sept. If you go to the centre on Marmaris there is a large indoor market which is on everyday. and further along the front is a huge boating marina, with lots of seating areas and toilets, and a small supermarket. If you are on a low budget, eat at Burger King or
McDonnalds. and not on the sea front.
Instead of going on outings with the holiday reps, which can be expensive, go to the Marmaris centre and get the free bus to the depot, and get the bus to anywhere, saves a lot of money.try Mugla takes about 2 hours and costs 10ntl each.
When passing food and drink premises, and are being hassled ask "what price the meal, can the kids go free", same on the boat trips, they are nearing the end of the season ask for a reduction for the trip.
The Aqua Park is a cheap day out. if you book it advance, they will pick you up from your hotel in a mini bus and take you there (included in the price), same as most boat trips
We will be in Sharas Bar in Armutalan 1 ntl ride on the bus from the centre on Marmaris, the beer is cheap, and the entertainment is good, the food is great and the host Ben is a great guy.
have good time

If you can, try to get the taxi boat or dolmus to Turunc for the day - it's really beautiful and very different to Marmaris - there are some very good restaurants there too. the taxi boat is very cheap. I ususally go to a restaurant called Antik in Turunc (near the petrol station), the Arcade restaurant is really nice too. I haven't spent much time in Marmaris since 2000 so I don't really know where the places to go are now

There is very good and detail information in this site about the facts, and what to do's in Marmaris, in English so please check out:
http://www.marmaris.gen.tr/Default.aspx
I would suggest you to try the Restaurants in the Marina and have a daily boat trip to close by bays since you will be accompanying a disabled person and children. This saves from tiring walks or bus hopping's to beaches plus the scenery is magnificent form the sea.
Have a good vacation.

Went there once........the beach was across the main/busy road and stoney.
Hotel was a bit ropey..........cockroaches although one of the best 'German' Hotels.
Night life is the usual bars/clubs etc and plenty of restaurants as you would expect from a main beach line resort.
They do day trips of course.........but other than that its lazing around the pool all day...................!
