Just habit. I feel my fingers don't move as well if I don't click them. The cracking noise is just oxygen bubbles in your joints and no, it doesn't cause arthitis

Cracking knuckles is a nervous habit, just the same as biting nails, but not everyone is able to do it - I can't! For anyone who thinks knuckle cracking is bad though, it has nothing on the Turkish mens' habit of cracking their necks! It's really scary, as I'm sure that one of these days I'm going to be in someone's company when they do it, and their head will remain stuck to one side!!

I have huge knuckles now from cracking my knuckles constantly as a kid. I don't know what it's called and not sure it is as far as it can get, but it is best to just stop all together.

I have an anxiety disorder and I find I crack my knuckles continuously when anxious, I did stop doing it for a while a year or so ago but I have become increasingly anxious and so I have become worse again.

I think its usually related to stress/anxiety/nerves and people do this to deter from what it is they are worrying about.

Don't know but it's horrible!!! I've heard it causes arthitis too but I don't know how true that is. I think people get into the habit of it and then do it without realising it

I've never done it to my knuckles but sometimes when I kneel down my knees crack!

I can crack almost anything that has a joint in my body, shins, knuckles, elbows, you name it! I read an article that said that cracking them does not hurt them, but actually relieves pressure in your joints.

You can crack your joints, but do not pull them, (like pulling your fingers out to hear them pop, don't do that)

Everything else is fair game!

Don't know really, I crack mine mainly in the morning, it feels good and I can fing my fingers properly

Does it really cause arthritis? If so then I've heard that cannabis is good for the pain. I don't mind smoking more of that s*t!

i crack mine frequently i cant move my fingers in the properly in the am if i dont crack them.my sis n i have always done this for as long as i remember n im 28.
this subject came up recently on a radio program and they had specialists in to discuss this.the end result is no it doesnt cause arthritis its a myth parents tell thier kids to stop them.
it is caused by tiny air pockets between your sockets that"pop" when u bend them
while its not a bad thing to do,its not advisable to do it on a regular basis.it wont stop me though!
