There are many christian children in Africa starving to death, they all read their bibles, they all pray. Why will god then not answer their prayers? Are they not praying enough? Are you telling me he will cure little Jimmie's cancer but let tens of thousands starve to death? If so why do you grovel to him?

lets say this biblical god were god...then i would agree. But what if that conceptualization of the divine is manmade not for the intent of knowing the divine but as a means of controlling the masses.

Maybe prayer helps some people get by psychologically. It's a state of meditation where they open themselves up to perceptual distortions and messages from beyond time and space. I agree that what they have done with this information is usually pretty dumb stuff but some people get it right so maybe religion aint that bad of a paradigm to work under as long as you stay grounded in reality and understand its only a framework for understanding.

The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving- Since posting to this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year.

The Indian subcontinent has nearly half the world's hungry people. Africa and the rest of Asia together have approximately 40%, and the remaining hungry people are found in Latin America and other parts of the world.

Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion - a majority of humanity - live on less than $1 per day, while the world's 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world's people.

One out of every eight children under the age of twelve in the U.S. goes to bed hungry every night.

To satisfy the world's sanitation and food requirements would cost only US$13 billion- what the people of the United States and the European Union spend on perfume each year.

The assets of the world's three richest men are more than the combined GNP of all the least developed countries on the planet.

The issue is not that there is not enough food to go around. There is. The issue is that the "have"s don't distribute to the "have not"s the way they should. Where there is relief to this suffering you will find Christians and other humanitarian organizations interceding but before the worlds hunger problem could begin to cease..there would need to be a moratorium collaborative corruption free plan that would implement four things...food, clean water, medicine and the military force neccessary to distribute these in countries that would rather prophet than see their people fed. In America..the reason children go hungry primarily is due to neglect. The food is there, the programs are there and the laws are there but the children are hungry because there is no one available to enforce it. Jesus does answer prayer...

There are many more I could list but the truth is, even after exhausting this list I couldn't show you how each individual church or congregation may have contributed or how they travel on mission trips to Guatamala to open school and give supplies to orphanages and stuff like. I could show you, from America, that there is a place....a little girl once prayed to Jesus for help and He answered her...with this location right here in the good ol US....www.christshaven.org. I lived there after being pulled from a neglectful, violent and abusive home at the age of 8 along with my brother by the state of Texas. So you can point fingers at God all you want. It is humans that cause human suffering and through the will and infrastructure that Christ set up, it is also through humans that the suffering should end. The Bible has much to say on this but you asked for no quotes...so...yeah, I worship the One True God who hears my prayers and leads me to do what I can to be Him to others and answer theirs. What do you do about anything? Love in Christ, ~J~

Just because the Lord does not resolve people's prayers in the way YOU or I THINK He should, does NOT mean that He is NOT answering prayers. This World that we live in is NOT our HOME. So who is to say that while many of the beloved Christians in Africa may starve to the point of death, and then they are EVER with Jesus Christ, in Heaven...would not that be a BETTER answer to prayer than having them continue to struggle with life here on Earth, when this whole world is in such a terrible state? Wouldn't that answer be MORE Merciful?! God does not always cure the cancer little Jimmy has either. Did you know that Jesus wept, when He had to bring Lazurus back from the dead?!
God loves us with a greater love than we can even imagine!!
He loves us so much that He sent His beloved Son to die in our place! For OUR sins! He sees the way this sinfulness of humanity is degrading HIS beloved planet, and the way that we treat one another..He HATES that..but He loves US enough to allow us FREE WILL...we are the ones that choose to continue to allow people in other Countries to perish from sickness, starvation and war...etc...God just allows this sinful nature of ours to continue so that we ALL will see why God MUST be followed, and what the TOTAL result of sin and separation & disobediance in it's complete and utter ugliness will reap for the human race.

De 30:19 - This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

God answers prayers but being a Christian means you have a problem free life. This is a world full of sin and in one way or another, some suffer with one of the many ugliness of the world caused by sin.

Jesus answers prayers but not all answers are yes. There's still the option of wait and no. Yes, he did feed those people in the desert due to miracles but it will not always be that way now. I mean they now can take care of themselves.

Miracles appear here and there but they are done for a reason. Too many miracles will make your life easy and you will forget God due to the now comfortable life. God does help you and me everyday but not in such a magnanimous scale. He makes things come more naturally.

On Africa's case, research shows there's enough food in the world to feed everyone. But is everyone even fair and generous? Does everyone really care for the people there? Prayer is good as you rely on God to help you. But if it's just like you pray for help on a test then don't study, you're gonna fail for God will not zap the answers to your brain just like that.

Doing such things is being lazy. You will not learn and grow as you dump everything on God expecting him to fix everything while you just slack off. Prayer is not a genie nor a shortdcut, it's a call for help where you mudt do a part too.

Now aside from asking God to help them, does everyone who pray really even pitch in?

I only know this much about prayer. When I pray, I know God is there for me and He answers. I could never question that. I've experienced His answers too many times.
I cannot speak for the starving and dieing. I only know that there is no pain or suffering that happens which is a result of someone not praying hard enough or not having enough faith.

From a Christian perspective, I can say this. We do not have a God who doesn't know what it is to be hungry or in great physical pain. He knows what it is to suffer unjustly. When people are starving to death, He feels their pain just as they do. This is why He said when we care for those in need, whatever we do for them, we are doing for Him.
You may ask. "Why is God letting people suffer?" While perhaps God is asking, " Why is humanity letting people suffer?". We have the means to feed the world. It is doable. God gave the poor and hungry others like us to help. I believe it is mankind not God who is failing the poor.

Have you been to Africa? Have you seen the actual situation there? I bet all the information you have are off the news. And these information are truly bizarre I know. But do have any proof that none of their prayers are being answered? How about those people who actually go there and help out? Don't you think that is somehow led by them praying and believing that there is help coming? None of us can really know. But for them there is still a reason to keep praying and believing, I don't know what that reason is but I'm sure they do. There is always no harm in believing and having a little bit of faith.

You have to wake me up!. Why the afternoon call? You hate Christian? Or you are better than them in Christianity?

You are not asking question here but just wants to portray us Christian to be believing nonsense. No logic in God's Wisdom. What is it that You want to say? That God is Unfairl? You are questioning Him, if I am not mistaken here. Then, You are greater in Wisdom, am I correct ? If not, then you should not question us here, for we are His Children. You dare to challenge us. You must be more powerful than Satan. For Satan too take a step backwards when the children of God appears. Do you think Satan take pleasure of You taking His Power? No, He is very protective and is very jealous. Do not provoke Him, He will break you into pieces. Be very care full of who you challenge, especially us, for we too come in Power and Honor. Try us ! But I won't encourage you. Be sober and at peace with us. The fire and brimstone are not meant for you but the Devil and his children, let it not rain on you. Don't boast and never challenge us. Even if God do not take action the, Devil will. When things goes on the opposite direction you might put the blame on God, but it is the Devil that might be against you. Boasting is the downfall of Satan, and if Satan can fall, what strength have you?

Yeah.

That's one of the details that always gets me. MORE so when it's the same people attacking the Catholics because they claim God doesn't preform miracles on demand (refereeing to part of the RC's services) BUT also suggest that ALL prayers are answers - which suggests the same thing.

Beats me.

So this believer is right here, and has answered you with the WORD OF GOD... Thank you for the opportunity, also thats why they get no answer. Oh yes, the rest of your question has a poop odor. We don't grovel!

And then the idea that Jesus could not be bothered with healing the masses when he lived but just a choice few to make an example? something fishy there? now to top it off we are supposed to expect results from a dead man !
