There's no hiding from yourself, is there? So there's no hiding from God. But in any event, maybe when we get to the end of days, God will be more concerned about how well we loved each other in this world than how many names and labels we stuck on each other and how much finger-pointing we did. The most Godly people I know teach by example, not by telling others that they'll get fried in the hereafter.

That is such a transparent straw man argument. If the world doesn't end you people can just claim it isn't time yet. You can't prove you're right unless it happens but no one can prove you wrong. Give it up because people are starting to call you on your BS. Prove you're right or head on back to the dark ages, where you and your superstitions belong.

How many centuries is it now?
Believers being manipulated by fear is a constant on Abrahamic faiths.
People who would rather not be manipulated through fear run a slim to none risk (heavier towards none) of a fear you describe being real.
And if this improbable invisible monster from the Old Testament is real, then a rocks not going to do any good anyways!

If the world does end, it will be because of events foreseen by scientists, not theologists.

Nobody needs to hide from God. He isn't real.

If he was, he'd need to hide from us. He's a despicable monster in the only work of fiction he stars in - He should be put on trial for crimes against humanity.

Atheists don't hide from God for the same reason you don't run from fire-breathing dragons and stay awake at night scared that the fairies will steal your teeth.
