my mate has dermatisitis on her head and she often drags a nit comb through her hair to get the loose skin out of it,only thing is,she eats the dry flakes off the nit comb.when i tell her i saw her do it she said she wasnt eating the skin,she was licking the comb to wet it so that it grips the skin.i never see her shake or wipe the comb and its thick in flakes when she licks it.is she ill? what would you do?why does she do this?has anyone ever heard of this before?
i dont think there are nits just lots of dry flakes and some are as big as cornflakes so i would see them drop off the comb but she licks them off!!

I'm not trying to be mean to your friend but this is quite dangerous as she could get bacteria she probably isn't ill but its probably just a thing you do like sucking your thumb its hard to stop maybe she was dared to do it and then it just became a habit because she was dared a couple of times. She might need to go see a counselor though.

It sounds like a mild obsessive-compulsive disorder. There is a similar one where people pull hair from different parts of their body to the point where they are bald...and even eat the hair! Some have to have surgery b/c the hair clogs up their digestive tract. This condition sounds similar.
She needs to see a psychologist, and start therapy that at least switches her obsession to something less disgusting. They will teach her ways to transfer her stress, nervousness, or whatever reason she is doing this. People often develop habits like this as children, and it helps relax them. Good luck!

this is so filthy and could upload to the lice thriving in this scalp this is so grimy with salivia and dirt. The nits additionally will bypass into her gadget and he or she would have inner issues. So unhygenic. She would desire to bathe and often shampoo her hair. If she cant take care of, she would desire to shave the top to do away with the lice and nits as quickly as and for all and then start up afresh via preserving sparkling hair.

While she wouldn't want to do that in public, there are lots of people in the world who do similar things. As an adult, she is unlikely to ever stop doing that, the habit is ingrained. You might tell her how it disturbs you to see this and ask her not to do that in front of you. Have her use mouthwash for a full 30 seconds after she has finished doing that to kill some of the germs, and make her inviting to kiss.
