I have a friend who works for Holland America Line and he uses his laptop all the time. We chat/IM while he's at sea. He as to pay for internet, but gets a discount on it.

Most of the crew on the ships know where all the internet cafes are in the various ports. That's where they go to do most of their internet stuff since it's often cheaper than using the internet on board.

Yes cruise ships have internet access. BUT unless they give staff/crew members a BIG discount you will not be able to afford it. On the cruise lines I have been on internet access is in the range of $50 to $60 a hour.

You would do much better, regardless of what cruise line or ship to wait until the ship gets to port and then go to an internet cafe on land. You can usually get internet access on land in or near ports for about $5.00 to $10 an hour. And there are now internet cafes right at the port in most cities.

To begin with, there is internet connection on cruise ships. For internet purposes, you must have web-based email (such as Yahoo Mail, GMail, Hotmail etc.) You would most probably be expected to sit in front of one of the available (for rent) terminals and do what you have to do.

In your case if you bring your laptop, you must be connected to the internet via the ship's facilities. This can be done. Whether it will be done depends on the person in charge of such services on board. Talk to him/her and find out whether you can be accommodated.

Most ships have access for personal laptops via wireless internet. You may have to pay a small fee because you are working on board then the fee may be reduced or free for you. I have brought my personal computer on board before but for passengers you have to purchase wireless internet access and it's fairly expensive. I would imagine workers get access at a deeply discounted rate.

you're able to desire to completely carry your computing device. The group internet is often complete and hardly speedy because of the fact everybody is on Skype and maximum possibly, you may have wifi on your room. you are able to constantly lock it on your locker on your cabin. believe me, you would be happy you delivered it.

Typically they have ones guests can use. So I'm sure you'll have access one way or another. Whether they'll charge you is another story.
