'Tis true we all should be prepared, but will it give crims even more reason to carry anything from a Stanley knife to even a gun to return the serve if law-abiding Mr. Jones hears wee bumping in the night and rises to protect his goodies.

That's for sure, sbyldy - but is it not so that many crims are more interested not in what size Mr. Jones may be...but of the 45" flatscreen telly and the Cambridge audio system, along with other sweeties in his house. You can't deter the determined - and if the things can get eventually sold for the crims. eventual joy, he'll be tooled up to the lugs. They see it as a cryptic crossword...the more determined they are to solve the problem - the harder they'll work

Thank you for those who have answered so far - not meaning to stir, notice many write what they would 'do to' burglars if they were caught in your house - bravo! Remember our neighbors here in Coventry who would continuously tell us what sort of 'present' they had for burglars who turned up at theirs (with the word 'Rottweiler' uttered at some stage in their claim - ho hum...). Some crims saw that as a challenge, with next thing on their shopping list, a few rib-eye steaks, along with adequate animal-dozing drugs to add. Tis true - most are out & out cowards, but like it or not...there are some who are clever bastards. But just wonder if now, homeowners might realise the less 'thoughtful' (if you will) crims might see the new law as a challenge, and have them become more violent?
