Please give your opinion.

It's nice to see no negative answers, whatever we believe about whether the Army should or shouldn't be where they are or doing what they are doing on our governments behalf remember they are following orders, and deserve our respect and continued support. Would like to see them out of Iraq and Afganistan and safely back home.

Our armed forces should be given every assistance, they are laying down their lives on a daily basis and this government should be helping them as much is humanly possible. Better housing, discount on council tax benefit and proper hospital treatment and decent compensation when injured in the line of duty.

If their out of the country they shouldn't get charged it in the first place.........and they deserve so much more than this insult........They also say that accommodation will be improved....it should never have been allowed to get that bad in the first place......I wonder how many times 10 Downing street get painted.......disgusting ....A private landlord would never have got away with it so why should the Government..And as for the food since that was privatised to Civvies it is disgusting bring back the Army Chef's these men have no choice as the cost is taken straight from their pay yet in some barracks they cant eat it as the food is such poor quality so they then buy their own food off camp........I would like to see the income the Army receives as a whole for accommodation and food as taken from each individuals pay and I think we would all get a shock as to where this is going.....as it is not going where it should be......

If the American people truly want to express their gratitude towards those that serve in uniform the answer is even simpler:

Make all military income tax free, regardless of deployment status.

Since such a small percentage of the US population wear the uniform, the tax revenue will not really be missed.

One way to recoup is get tougher on pork spending, most Americans would not even notice.

Additional note: Valf, no, no, please understand, contracters for chow is the best thing they could have done. REALLY.

Army cooks SUCK, so does their product.

yes i totally agree with u. we put our lives on the line to save this country an some of us end up getting ptsd an depression, an sometimes end up having to get medically discharged from service and the after help from the government is sometimes poor. the taxis need to be reduced and need to have better living quarters and as some of us only get £12,000 its no supprise why some of us act the way we do. we need better equipment in order for us to do our job properley.

Our armed forces deserve all the government can give them. These men are the best. and without them we would not be our own country but taken over by others.

I think instead of getting pay raises, they should get tax breaks. There is no real difference between a guy making $40,000 a year paying $5,000 in taxes or a guy making $35,000 a year and paying no taxes.

Anyone who volunteers to protect our citizens deserve more than they presently get. They should also be given adequate equipment.
The Government needs to sort things out.

Most definitely......if we can look after the spongers and numerous illegals in this country surely we can look after those who lay their lives on the line for us each day.

They deserve much, much more..........

Somewhere decent to live, support for families & proper care for the injured is only fair.

But one of the ways this should be funded is to shrink the army; we wouldn't need so many people in uniform if we didn't get so involved in pointless conflicts.
