honey, that happens all the time - your manager will understand - just ask if you may speak with them - let them know how much you have appreciated the training and starting work with them, then apologise that you are so sorry but an opportunity has come up for you that is exactly what you want in life - have a professional style typed up letter ready to hand to your manager as your resignation. You haven't been there long so you don't have to give much notice - but you could give a weeks notice out of courtesy to let them find someone else.

Be brave - it will be worth it in the long run.

how soon would you start the job from the offer? things could change between now and then (an offer doesn't necessarily guarantee a job).

why did you take the part time job? what is the nature of that job and is it in your field?

is the manager at the first job a good friend with the head of HR at the new job? if so, why lose 2 jobs in the same day?

we can come up with other hypotheticals all day long.

The exact same thing happened to me once. Accepted a job and the day after i started, I was offered the job I really wanted. If you explain it to them, i am sure they will understand. If they don't, then that is their problem.

is the other job better? if it is do it, if it's not stay. Either way if you decide to quit make up a lie say that you have to move out of state soon or town. You have to sound convincing and say " Listen i am sorry, but i have to leave this real cool job, cause blah, blah, blah.........and sorry i wasted your s and mine time but i can't stay. " Simple as that.! Good luck

Just be honest & tell the manager the situation.I'm sure that you are not the first person to be in this position. The person offering you the new job may be prepared to wait a couple of weeks, for you to continue working for your present employer, in order for him to train a replacement.

definitely! if you got another job offer because of the wage or hours then talk to the employer and he may want to do the same as the other to keep u if he really needs someone! If its for just personal interest in the other job, or location is better then i say go for it and do what u gotta do! yes u do gotta put urself first here!

I guess, just tell them you want to quit.. Tell him that you realize this is not a job for you and you're sorry for it...

they aren't going to like it at all. But you were just using them for money, and they were just using you for cheap labor. It's not as though you are friends with them and owe them anything.
