Did you see on the news GWB trying to show support for Myanmar, but found it much easier to say "Burma?"

Too funny...

I don't think the Pope is as interested in human rights as he is in establishing RC as the only legit form of Christianity.

If you mean interested in stepping on the human rights of millions I would agree with you. Over the years the office (is that the right term?) of the pope has been responsible for some of the most appalling atrocities man has ever dream ed of. While it has improved and not necessarily by it's own choice they are still keeping poor uneducated people right where they want them. How much more good could the church do if they weren't building huge ornate churches in honour of a guy who said to do good deeds and abandon your material possessions?

I wouldn't think so, for the Myanmar government would condemn the act as a act of foreign influences, and accuse the monks with co-operating with external powers, to weaken the interior government

it is too sad for people inside Myanmar ( Burma ) for things to go on this way. Military should talk openly and make peace with everyone for the sake of everyone.

Burmese people deserve normal relationship with the whole world.

No one wants dictatorship and no one wants uniformed people above us. Burmese culture is too high for that.

Give respect, gain respect. Military and people should respect each other.

Foreigners should not keep the country sanctioning.

Take action or leave them alone.

see this for support of sanghas in Burma.
