I think both are important. I believe that after all we do, we still fall short of the glory of God. Then, through our faith, the atonement and the grace of God kick in and make up for what we lack.

They work hand in hand
If you truly had the faith you claim then you would be doing all the works God has asked you to do.
If you arent doing the works I just dont believe you have the faith.
I would rather someone work their whole life in the service of others and have no faith then have someone claim to have all the faith in the world and not lift a finger for anyone.
Faith without works is dead and if you arent doing the works all the faith in the world wont convince God you really believed.

Faith is more important. Because it is what pleases God.
Works anyone can do. We can make up whatever we want to and call it pleasing to God.
Works that the Holy Spirit does through us are the only works that God counts in the first place! So focusing on works is a waste of time. Trusting God is more important, and if you do that, the works will come.

One cannot be more important than the other. We are saved by God's Grace which comes to us through faith and works. Without works, faith is meaningless (Jam 2:26) and we cannot be justified by works alone. So both are interdependent and equally important.

Here's a little food for thought! Who was it who said that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains??? How much "work" do you suppose it would it take to do so??? which doesn't in itself mean that anyone saying: "I believe" will be saved! Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for though not yet seen! and Christ did ask if there would even be any faith left on the earth at all upon his return! Why do you think that is???

Faith is proven by works. As James states, Faith without works is dead. You cannot have one without the other... they are equally important.

I would say that they are equally important for a Christian. Faith without works is dead. That being said, works alone will not get you into heaven.

The Word says in Jas 1:22 "but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves"...
Faith is VITAL but faith without works is dead. It's like having a flash car that you never drive...
Jesus said "and greater WORKS than these shall ye do"
Both are vital to the believer

If a person truly has faith, his faith will be evident by the way he lives his life, by his works.
