I have a medical problem. I look healthy and can work, but I know it needs attention as soon as possible. How can I go into work tomorrow and explain to my boss that I need to leave work early to go to an appointement.? Without getting in trouble?

Thanks

Wow! Where do you work, in a gulag somewhere? Just go up to your boss and say you have a doctor's appointment for a medical condition that needs to be addressed.

If it's going to be something that happens often, you need to fill the boss in on what your condition is and why it needs repeated absenses.

You did not say what kind of an appointment. If it is in relation to your condition, they same thing you are stating to perfect strangers is the same thing you need to emphansize to the person who is paying you. In the future (if you are newly hired) I would try to get appointments when I am off work or skip lunch in order to leave early and make the appointment. An example is if you get off work at 4:30 p.m., you would skip lunch so you could leave at 3:30 and make your appointment that is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. That way I contributed to a days work and did not feel guilty for leaving early. I also cleared it with my boss before hand.

Without being your boss, it's hard to say. All you can do is be honest and take it from there and I stress being honest. When I have an employee give me an excuse for an absence or even partial absence through a lie, it comes out almost every single time.
