I recently checked my credit and found a judgement against me and its wrong. I rented a house last year and moved on bad terms with the owner. The owner stated that I owed 4 grand. The judge dismissed it however now, I have a judgement against me on my credit report from the landlord stating that I owe him 2500.00. How can he do that ?

first go to Courthouse and get whatever copies of the judge
dismissing whatever, then go to the courthouse and get
copies of your judgement. You might need a lawyer after
that or since it is 2500.00 you can sue him back yourself
in small claims court (but see what the limit is for small claims) because if HE did not serve you properly for you
to show up in Court on Time and can proof that and then
proof he entered a false Judgement then you can sue him
back for more than 2500.00 for Defamation of Character
and the Court might be interested in processing their
own "false" claims against him.
Definitely consult a lawyer, some of them you can consult
with free. Some charge about 75.00.

Are you sure it is the same case? There is a very good chance he filed a second case against you. You can compare the original case with the case number listed on the report.

If they are the same, send a copy of the court documents that shows it was dismissed to the Credit Reporting Agencies to show it was dismissed to have it removed.

If they are different, you need to find out about this second case. You will have to go to the Courthouse the case was filed in and ask for the suit documents. This includes the proof of service. If there is no proof of service or it is invalid you can petition the court to have the case heard again. In some cases you might be able to also petition the courts to hear the case even with valid service. However, for this you probably should consult a lawyer as to how to proceed.

Wait a minute. The judge dismissed the suit and your credit report shows a judgement? Report it to the credit bureau as an error.

Sounds like you landlord went back to court and sued you again and since you did not show up to protest he won a default judgment.

You will need to research this with the courts and make sure, then petition the court to review the judgment. You will need proof that this is not accurate information or the court will rule against you again.

You should consult a lawyer to make sure you proceed correctly.

If you could prove it was dismissed in court, just send that to the Credit Bureau and dispute it.
