It is a back door approach, but anti-gunner will stop at nothing to take guns from the citizenry, but reserve the right to keep them for themselves. Hypocracy at the highest level.

Pretty elaborate ploy if it is.
Cross bows were first outlawed for hunting because most of them were so poorly built that all they did was wound the animal. Technology finally caught up and the cross bows became a pretty formidable hunting tool. So then the argument became that the cross bow gave too great an advantage to the hunter.
Not being an archer I don't really know where the debate stands right now. As far as I know most states still do not allow the cross bow for hunting. But I may be behind the times on this.

Gun rights should have nothing to do with hunting or "sporting" purposes. Know Your Rights!
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour. " GEORGE WASHINGTON
"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government "
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms "
THOMAS JEFFERSON
"By calling attention to 'a well regulated militia,' 'the security of the nation,' and the right of each citizen 'to keep and bear arms,' our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy... The Second Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason I believe the Second Amendment will always be important." John F. Kennedy
"There is no reason for anyone in this country, anyone except a police officer or military person to buy, to own, to have, to use a handgun "
MICHAEL GARTNER, President NBC News
"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans to legitimately own handguns and rifles...that we are unable to think about reality "
BILL CLINTON, Former President and Future First Lady of the US
"If I could have banned them all - 'Mr. and Mrs. America turn in your guns' - I would have!" Diane Feinstein: US Senator from California
"If I had my way, sporting guns would be strictly regulated, the rest would be confiscated" Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, current Speaker of the House of Representatives

The two topics are totally seperate and unrelated. Crossbow laws and regulations have nothing to do with political pro or anti-gun agenda's what-so-ever.Crossbows are simply an alternative means that thru legalization, allows individuals with various physical handicaps the means to have the ability to hunt as others do.Nothing more...Nothing less......
NOTE* There are only 4 states in the United States that you CANNOT legally hunt with a Crossbow under ANY circumstances..Hawaii,New York ,Nevada, and Oregon
