Does the United States Coast Guard deploy a lot of people to Iraq. I really want to join the military but I am afraid that I might get deployed to Iraq. Is this the branch to join if you want the least chance of going to Iraq?

yes, there are CG ships and personnel over there. yes, they have had casualties.

If you are unwilling to be sent wherever and whenever your skills are required at any time for any reason, then do NOT enlist. period.

Yes there are coasties over there. We also have ships there too protecting the ports. Out of all the military branches the coast guard is the least to go over there.

The coast guard isnt like the national guard. You will stay here in the states i think. the best thing you can do is either find someone who serves in the C.G. and ask them or you can trust your recruiter and maybe they will tell you the truth. The National Guard however is a definite trip to iraq.
