The answer is yes. It may or may not be relevant to your friends status. Google for a guy called Andy Cutler, He wrote a book called amalgam illness. Contrary to what the posters above claim silver fillings are half mercury! Mercury is a deadly neurotoxin-second only to plutonium. If you believe its dangerous to eat to much fish due to mercury contamination but its ok to have a mouth-full of the stuff you may already be affected. Work on mercury(silver) fillings during pregnancy releases mercury gas and can cause nerve damage to the fetus and the mother. Thousands of doctors believe mercury amalgams are making millions of people sick. Wake up!
Dentists have been stripped of their licenses just for telling people this.

No. Some quack dentist types want people to spend a lot of money to get the mercury fillings taken out of their teeth, so they spread rumors like this. The mercury in dental fillings does not leak out. I've got literally dozens of mercury fillings and I am not autistic.
I bet your friend's son also started showing symptoms of autism after he wore diapers, slept in a crib, was fed baby food, etc. Just because something happens after something else does not mean the first thing caused the second thing.

There could be a correlation between the analgesic used and autism. Did he have Novocaine injected, or was he gassed with nitrous oxide?

absolutely not. first of all i'm almost certain his fillings didn't contain mercury. second of all, he had symptoms before he got the fillings, they just weren't noticed yet.
