i live in a large metro area, and today i drive by 4 bike cops looking to give tickets on a not so busy road.

instead of sitting on their butts all day wasting our tax money writing worthless tickets, why don't they go find the criminals who have skipped bail or parole?

i mean it's not like a police officer couldn't easily be replaced by photocop. it's a good thing they're hiding waiting for someone to go 5 over the speed limit while someone is getting raped by a convict who skipped parole.

Yes! our town cops are lazy idiots. I think the reason they don't go after real crime is they are chicken sh*ts and it is safer to write tickets than to face down a rapist or drug dealer. I know what you mean and hiding is the correct way to describe their behavior. I am all for street justice and bounty hunter. we have one on our street and he gets the job done. we have had 2 guys who no longer steal from the old people. after numerous police reports that go nowhere .He was allegedly seen beating them down and returning stolen goods

Don't let the big TV shows fool you. Bounty hunters don't spend most of their time catching criminals, and aren't necessarily concerned about enforcing the law. The people they're looking for haven't been convicted of the crime yet. Bounty hunters generally work in conjunction with a bail bondsman who doesn't want to loose thousands of dollars because the defendant didn't return for trial. It's all about the money.

BTW...I agree with you about cops spending time writing speeding tickets while some innocent person around the corner is getting mugged. Then again, it's their job to enforce the little laws and the big laws. What we should be complaining about is our *elected* officials who have nothing better to do than sit around on their butts all day writing stupid laws that only inconvenience us.

Fact... More people are killed each year by reckeless, speeding, or by driver inattention each year then any other crime committed by a person.

Think about it, if cops weren't out there how would you drive? Would drive as slowly and carefully if you were not worried about getting a ticket. Thats because most people are so nieve and think that they aren't going to cause an accident by going 10-15 mph over the speed limit or by weaving in and out of traffic.

Put it this way...... a cop patrols the streets every day looking for criminal behavior. When he sees a violation he stops to investigate it. Unfortunately when he stops people for a traffic violation that they have committed this is taking their time away from patrolling for criminal activity. Think of it this way... every time you get pulled over for doing something illegal.... YOU are taking one more cop of the streets that could have saved that innocent persons life who just got murdered and raped a block away.

Dont you think that cops would rather save or get the "bigger crime" rather then write a measily traffic ticket. Of course they would. In fact, many officers use traffic violations as a way to find criminals. Stop and ID the driver, maybe he has got drugs in the car... just maybe he murdered someone and is wanted in another state. How do you think Cops catch the criminals. The more you pull over and ID the more chance you have of catching a wanted criminal. Might as well get a charge while your wasting your time on a person who doesnt want to obey a petty traffic law.

Bottom line: Cops cant prevent crime when people are breaking the law left and right in front of them as they are driving around checking the local hot spots for ciminal activity.

If anything... the fact that there is a market for bounty hunters shows that there arnt ENOUGH law enforcement officers out there.

No it isn't the Polices job to catch bail jumpers unless they catch them during the performance of their duties thats why Bail Bondsmen use bounty hunters since they can chase them across state lines and they don't need warrants to enter a house to detain them That way the traffic officers are available to stop speeders before they hit you or respond to traffic accidents or what ever may come up while they are working

You're right. They are supposed to protect and serve. Now I don't know too many people who feel anything but anxiety when they see the police. Are they the good guys? Then why do they seem like high school bullies with tazers?

Is the fact that there is a market for mercenaries (oh I'm sorry, "security contractors") to handle military affairs in countries that we've invaded mean that our National guard and army reserves are overwhelmed. Do you find it disturbing that they have sent the NATIONAL freakin guard over seas? Aren't they supposed to be here. aren't the Reserves supposed to be used last? Isn't that why they call them RESERVES?

FIRST YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM. BIKE COPS AS YOU SAY ARE A PART OF TRAFFIC DIVISION NOT PATROL DIVISION.

THESE OFFICERS DO RESPOND TO OTHER CALLS WITH IN THE AREA OF JURISDICTION WHEN NEEDED AS BACK UP THEY ARE VERY EFFECTIVE AS A BIKE CAN GO DOWN AREAS A VEHICLE CANNOT.

OH BY THE WAY IT IS THE NOT SO BUSY ROADS WHERE MOST OF YOUR DRUG DEALS GO DOWN OUT OF THE MAIN STREAM. ALSO THE AVERAGE DRIVER SPEEDS ON LONELY ROADS NOT OFTEN PATROLLED--WITH 4 POLICE WORKING THE AREA, THIS IS A STING OR EMPHASIS PATROL CALLED FOR BY SOME NEARBY IRATE CITIZEN ABOUT SPEEDERS ON THIS LONELY ROAD??? AT LEAST THEY WERE AT WORK AND NOT IN A DONUT SHOP??? BUT NO MATTER WHAT THEY DI YOU WOULD PROBABLY HAVE SOME NEGATIVE COMMENT ABOUT WHAT THEY WERE DOING ANYWAY HUH???

well...to be quite blunt, how do you think "we" catch some of those "fugitives" you just mentioned? TRAFFIC!!! Let me tell you why.....because the Constitution of the US states that all people shall have the right to be secure in their homes, and be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. The Supreme Court has ruled that YOU DO NOT have the SAME right to privacy in a "conveyance" as you do in a home. So, I LOVE traffic because I can get drugs, warrants, write tickets, and inform the public...."we" can't just kick doors in like so many folks think just because I know someone has an outstanding warrant......no offense, but you just need to do a little more research before you start insulting us on doing our jobs.......

yup, i mean the bounty hunter girls from court tv and Dog the bounty hunter and his crew make the Cops show look like rookies,
but in reality(off-camera), cops are not even as close to the physical and mental sharpness as the guys at Cops,
they're just waiting to prey on a "sheep", that's from my experience

On the whole, I'd say it says more about how well parents and the education system are doing their jobs. Think about it: do you really think there would be this many criminals if everyone was raised right and/or well educated?

Oh, and speed kills. Thieves just steal. And I'm guessing this question was prompted by your getting a ticket, rather than a genuine concern about crime.

No, but it is proof that incentive works better then government, ie, government is incapable of doing everything like the socialists/liberals would have us believe.
