The Marine Corps 3X fitness program for men and women
by
Martin Cohen
It is a no nonsense format. there are a lot of myths related to the "Marine Corps" fitness program, among them, that you must be an athlete or something like that. Completely false, the Marine Corps does not strive to produce athletes. Also, that somehow it is "super grueling" training. It is intense, but achievable by most who enter boot camp. Also, you can simply go for remedial conditioning of you do not pass. If you want it, you will get it. Good luck!

Get into the routine of getting 5-6 hours of sleep every night. Practice your aim (for shooting), run at least 5 miles everyday. Put on a 50lb bag on your back and hike 10 miles a few times a week. Do a bunch of pull-ups, push-ups and sit ups everyday, and you'll be prepared for bootcamp.
*Please keep in mind that nothing will really prepare you for bootcamp because you'll be dealing with a lot of people. But, if you can take care of your physical conditioning now, then you'll have a much easier time in bootcamp. Hope this helps.

First you find out what the physical requirements (push ups, sit ups and run time) is. They also teach memorization so memorize any documents now they want you to memorize later. Map reading and direction awareness is important. Math is key too. You know that math problem having two different vehicals at two different speeds? That's really a firing solution problem for old torpedos and old anti aircraft guns. Learn to iorn, polish and quickly dress/make the bed their way. Get use to odd temperatures like extreme heat and cold.

I enlisted in the Corps at 17 in 1973. What saved my butt was pedalling 13 miles in/13 out on a 10 speed bike to high school for 3 months. If there is 1 thing that will get you through boot...it's that you can train your mind to overcome ANYTHING ! Train physically before you go, but ENDURE once you are there. Pain is weakness leaving the body. OoooRAH !

RE: making waiting for Marine Corps Boot Camp? If there are any Marines obtainable, I'll be starting to be a member of your ranks next twelve months. interior the mean time, do you have any recommendations to help me get waiting for basic education? I even have already gotten in touch with my close by recruiter, am doing cardio and weight education, and have started discovering the Marine Corps Hymn,...

I dk if the marines have one or not, but the army has a special program for recruits who arent up to the entry physical standards. Its a couple weeks and its basically physical conditioning all day. running is always good. Do stairs until you cant breath, then do twice that. lots of marines wear glasses, youll get used to them.

Just eat right and continue to do something physical everyday. Work on running and endurance, because thats what its all about. Im in a grunt unit, so I do a lot of long hikes and I PT every morning. Bootcamp is grueling, but it requires a lot of physical and mental fitness, so just focus on that. You will do good, just make sure that you are in shape. I had some overweight guys in my platoon in bootcamp, and they made it just fine. Hardwork is the key. Dont give up on yourself. Mental toughness, thats what it is all about. Good luck!

dont run everyday!!!! youll burn yourself out and eventually strain, pull, or tear something. start slow, and work up. atleast 30 minutes of cardio three to four times a week every other day and since your overweight, keep you heartbeat about 120-135 bpm. anything hire and you are working heart and endurance instead of fat loss. do 30 sec push ups, 45 sec, 1 min, 1:30, and 2:00, with short breaks in between, then repeat with situps. consistency is the key. and watch what you eat. as you progress add variety and length to your workout,

You wont be able to lose weight in 10 days or anything but you just need to excercise like push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, running, squats, running again, and weights/climbing wouldnt hurt. As for the other guy who said marines are rapist, i would like to remind him that unlike him, they have the balls to do what is necessary to defend this country for ungrateful punks and hypocrits like him. so yeah i hope he gets shipped off to some desert country without any food or water.
