My stepdad is going through a really hard time. His son has been battling cancer for the past couple years. He can only eat liquid food through feeding tubes and has recently had most of his tongue surgically removed. Yesterday we just learned that the cancer has spread to his liver and lungs and will not be curable. The doctors are saying he has just one year to live. This is devastating news for us all.
How now can I help my stepdad through this? Is there anything I can do? How can I show him my support ?

Give him a hug. Be there for him if he wants to talk. If he has tasks to do around the house and he looks like he can't get motivated and you are able to do it, just do it. Be willing to listen when he is ready to talk.

I'm so sorry. My dad died with cancer. You help your stepdad by just being there for him by spending time with him when he visits his son as much as he will allow. Because he will want some time for just the 2 of them. Try making some more memories for him by taking special pictures of their time or videos for you all to have. These will be something he will treasure. And hospice really helps I don't know what we would have done without dads hospice nurse she was wonderful. They would be able to help not only your stepdad but the rest of the family as well. Have you all tried Cancer Treatment Centers of America? Just let him know you are there for him, as well as being there.

It sounds as if you have most of it covered, just be there for him because its just going to get worse.Give him space when he needs it,and when he needs to talk he will.I am so sorry that you have to go through this, nobody should have to go through it especially young people.I went through it myself in 1999 and it broke my heart to see my father suffering, and there was absolutely nothing I could do to change it.If you are religious say a lot of prayers that he goes quick.Once again im sorry you have to go through this, stay strong for your stepdad.

Just be there for him. If he practices a religious faith, you may want to ask his pastor to come pray with your family.
Hugs are always a good thing. Just hold him and tell him your there for him thru this difficult time.
I am sad for your family and am praying for Gods love and peace for your step brother.
