In short, my mother is dying from lung cancer, now spreading to other parts of her body. She is a shadow of her former self-having lost nearly 50 pounds in 3 months time. She can barely breathe, barely walk, barely talk now. She is racked with pain throughout her entire body and we are prepared to put her in hospice. My biggest fear is that she will die a slow and painful death from this and I am sure she wishes more than anything she had NEVER picked up a cigarette and continued to smoke from the time she was 15 until now, and she is 74 years old.
My point is this: If you are young and you are currently a smoker, do yourself the biggest favor in the world--stop. Don't get so addicted. STOP SMOKING. If you are currently a smoker and have smoked for many years, it is not too late to stop either. I could just die thinking about the pain my mother is going through...no one should have to go through this. IF YOU SMOKE--PLEASE STOP NOW--It just isn't worth it.

I feel for you, and can understand and relate to your story, my father passed away almost 2 years ago from lung cancer, he was a smoker, I'm 50, I smoked for twenty years, At one point I was up to 3 packs a day, I quit 10 years ago, I feel so much better, and I am not wasting my money on ruining my health and contributing to my early death. I wish the very best for you and your Mother!

First let me say I'm sorry for what you are going through with your mother. Both of my parents were heavy smokers all of their lives. They are both gone now and both died from complications as a result of smoking. My parents had five children all of us have smoked at some point in our lives. Three are still at least a pack a day smokers. I am one of the ones that successfully stopped but, I promise I could smoke one a mile long almost any day. I am glad you learned from your Mother and hope your letter will help wake at least one person up. Again, I'm sorry for what you are going through. May God Bless You.

I feel bad for you in your situation, but a lot of things just aren't worth it. Not everyone gets cancer from smoking and no matter how bad something is for you, people are still going to do it. This country is progressively getting dumber, fatter, and more ignorant.

NO! Smoking is for(Censored thanks to Triple H).Everyone take her advice IF YOU DO SMOKE because you guys make second hand smoking more popular and nobody wants that to happen to them.Besides if you smoke, you are adding up the congestion of the Earth's atmospere. And Mother Nature does'nt like that.So PLEASE quit.I don't want my lungs messed up.I'm only 13 and i can't believe that people think theyre cool using it.

74 is pretty old, lay off and mind your business, let a smoker chose to smoke or quit on their own without your public service announcement. And no, I don't smoke. And to the 13 year old that rolls her eyes at her father, you are a disrespectful little ***** and should have your smart *** slapped.

all i ask is when i die... lite me up one .. stick it between my fingers and put the rest of the pack in my shirt pocket..

knew a guy who didn't smoke, drink ,eat junk food, never played around or took a risk..

No, I don't smoke. I agree, the habit isn't worth it. Too much to lose.
