Has anyone had this similar problem? i have been in pain for 1 yr now without any external symptoms.the pain shoots up to my hip joint and to the feet.any info will help me find solution for my persistant pain. any doctors response will be very helpful.

An MRI would be much better to diagnose and rule out any abnormalities in the knee if dealing with soft tissue. If you are at risk for PVD, such as smoking, HTN, or diabetes, an MRA could be considered.

Have you seen an orthopedic doctor yet? The problem may be in this area. The fact that you are having shooting pains would lead to the suspicion of a pinched nerve . By the way, I just heard an interesting note on TV saying that if a MAN has pain in ONE knee, it is often the very earliest sign of lung cancer.
