Considering a big majority of the U.S. population are Christians, why don't we have any Christian programming. (7th Heaven and TBN don't count)..i mean, shows with a moral message (kind of like Growing Pains used to have).

How did I eliminate what I said ?(TBN is a station that preaches..and 7th Heaven is a "non-denominational" type show, which doesnt even exude Christian values. I'm asking about a wholesome family program that teaches a moral at the end (like Growing Pains used to).

Yes I do believe Growing Pains was Christian programming. Considering the main character Mike, didn't have premarital sex..considering there was a moral message in the end of each show, then yes.

There are some great avenues for Christian teaching out there on cable, but your right, there really isn't anything on the big 3. Satan uses this media to keep sex and lies in the face of all especially children. A study came out today that shows most of America acknowledges that the quality of programming is going down fast, but they still watch it.

The US does have christian programming. However, there isn't much demand for it.
Consider the christian programming that exists. They are always preaching and lecturing and asking for donations. Consider the other type of christian programming....they do not attract viewers, and hence they do not attract advertisers, resulting in unfunded production costs. They are soon taken off the air, deservedly.
The US population is indeed populated in majority by christians. Yet, we know the majority's taste in TV programming....it is what is aired on prime time. Does this give you any clue about what is christianity in the US?

Programming is all about ratings. Focus groups are done to determine which shows will bring in the ratings, and thus, advertising money. Clearly there isn't that much of a market for Christian programming.

Well, the mere fact that the USA is majority christian is not a good enough reason to mandate christian programming, if that's what you mean.
But I'll agree that Hollywood is giving us far too much ill-mannered, ill-meaning programming, and I would gladly see the "good old days" come back.

Growing Pains was christian programming? You have a strange sense of what christian programming should be.

I've heard that 95% of Spain is Catholic, but less than 50% go to Church regularly. For a Catholic, missing Church is a major sin. So, same in US. We say we are Christian, but our actions say differently.
