Anorexia is driven by a need for control, which ranges from wanting to control your food intake to wanting control over your emotions.

As a person loses weight, they will lose their sex drive because hormones are thrown out of whack - the same reason anorexics often stop menstruating. There's also a theory that loss of sex drive is part of the body's defense against an inability to handle reproduction (due to the weakened state of the body).

Chemical changes in the body affect the brain and distort thinking, making it impossible for the person to make rational decisions about food. As the illness progresses, many people will suffer from the exhaustion of starvation. It is very rare, but occasionally people die from the effects of anorexia.

These chemical changes would explain both the loss of emotions and the loss of sex drive.

It can shut your whole body down. Many people have a hard time recovering from the damage it has done to their body. So, in short, yes, it can cause a decrease in sex drive.
