I am on title of this vehicle with my ex, who is in possession of this vehicle but is not making payments on it. I need to get it legally changed on the title with my name only because he is ruining my credit and he has the car! So, I want that car back!

honestly to do this you,ll need a lawyer to draw up some papers for you and this will have to go to court, you,ll also probably need a warrant to get the car from him, this is a sticky situation because both names are on the title, legally you or him have the right to do what ever you want with it,as long as both your names are on the title, and who ever has possession of the vehicle has legal owner ship of it,basically your going to have to use the law and take it from him,and really quick too,if he finds out your going to do this he could destroy it before you get it back, talk to a lawyer about it,they will be able to tell you what to to do,im no lawyer just someone who's been through it before, good luck.

Since there is a loan on the car you would have to get the ok from the lien holder before you can take his name off of the title. If you get their ok, they might be able to help you get the title changed. They would probably be able to tell you the best way to go about it. Good luck :)

Sue him in small claims court or refinance the car in your own name. The current lender will sign title over to the new lender with just your name & the DMV will be notified of course. THen report the car stolen if he won't give it back.

Visit a third party notary or an authorized agency by your state dmv to get a new title and registration in your name. Your ex might have to accompany you since they might require his drivers license and other documents from him.

Hope this helps.

just go with the police or sheriff....get the title. Make him sign it and then it's yours, as soon as you register it. (assuming it hasn't been reposessed.) make sure you have proof he's not paying on it...
