how white should his gums be if he is bleeding? is it pure white or just a little pale?

If you think he may have injured himself, you should take him to a vet to assess those injuries.

To answer your question, changes in gum colour depend on how badly an animal is bleeding and how quickly it is occuring. Very extensive, rapid haemorrhage could indeed cause an animal to have near-white gums (I've never seen an animal with 'pure white' gums and still be alive!), but a slower or less severe bleed may cause just a little bit of pallor.

Any bleeding can be better assessed by taking a small amount of blood and measuring something called the Packed Cell Volume (PCV)...basically, the % of red blood cells in their blood. This can be repeated a day or two later to determine if the animal is losing blood.

His gums should be PINK, not white. Take him to the vet, any chance of catching internal bleeding and stopping it depends on speed to the clinic.

Take him to the vet. If the cat's gums bleed the vet is the way to help!

If you think your cat may have internal bleeding, you need to take him to a vet right away.

Call a vet. He could have bumped his head hard enough to cause an injury to his brain and if that is the case, he needs to be examined by a vet and treated.
