that is a tricky question. You would teach a child to fear fire because you love them, right?

God doesn't threaten man. He doesn't need to. He's God. That's a little amatuerish, for an omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent God, need to stoop to man's level and use threats to get us to comply. Ur right, obviously that doesn't work. So what next, does a powerful God just give up? Does he just say, oh well, they don't believe in hell, so I guess they can just live and die now.
That's the dumbest thing ever.
Yes God has given us free will. Ultimate free will. U can do whatever u want with your body, if u want to. If u wanna be gay, hey, be gay, if u wanna fornicate and commit adultery, hey, no one's stopping you. But God knows that we have weaknesses. He knows that we fall short sometimes. We don't have enough money to pay the bills, or our marriage is screwed up; and He's offering us a way out. Out of depression, and alcoholism, and adultery, and all the other weaknesses we have, just to come into a relationship with Him. Where he'll change you from the inside out. You'll start to think differently, and act differently, and talk differently, and then the world will know that Jesus is Lord. He's not using threats. Sure there are consequences for bad choices. The Bible says that the "wages of sin is death." Not just physical death. Death in your marriage, in your family. Dead relationships. Dead ambitions. Whenever you sin, something dies. Good health becomes poor health, great success becomes failures.
God is not a being with a whip saying, Be a Christian now! or die! God loves us. Thats why He sent us a way out: Jesus. When man sinned, God knew that we needed a Savior because that relationship with the Father was broken by sin. He loves us so much and if you're in Him, and IN HIS WILL, then you'll start to see your life change for the better, things will start to work out for you. Because God is in the midst.

If there is a God, he can't be too omniscient, as he is very bad at psychology. Fear is the opposite to love. Do you really believe that an omniscient being is fearful, or that a loving God wants you to be afraid? A good parent doesn't teach a child by instilling fear in them; they teach by example and by educating them at a level that they can understand according to their age. The strategies that you mention are Man-given, not God-given.

I believe there is a Heaven and there is a hell, just as much as I believe there is a God.
But I don't believe in coercion any more than you do. Some people think they have to scare others into believing by telling them about the hell part. But I personally like to tell people about the love part first. I tell them how much God loves them, and that He is a God of redemption. You must first have faith in God to believe. And yes, if I had heard about hell without hearing about Gods love and grace first, I might have resented Christians to. But I have always felt Gods goodness and love, so that is what I like to tell of. There is a hell, and only God can tell you who will be going there. The Bible says we must all be saved and I also believe that. But don't think that all Christians use the scare tactic. God loves all of us, and H doesn't want any body to go to hell. So He gives us the choice. Either we believe or we don't. It is our choice. You decide for your self.

I'm afraid you will have to prove that God uses coercion to gain compliance. Don't use examples of people who say they represent God and force others to do what they want. Give us some examples of God, Himself, doing it.

Since when are you forced to love God? Don't you have free will to walk away? And isn't that what some choose to do? It's the choices we make that put us where we need to be in the end.
