You are absolutely correct! I was a member of the LDS Church! The LDS ( Mormons) are Christians, just like other mainline christians! And there are 13,000,000 members! That is not a cult!
Every Church has things that they believe, and the LDS are no different! And yet, they are made fun of at every turn! What is so thrilling about insultin, the deeply held beliefs of one group of people! If what they think, and believe doesn't work for you? Move on! You, as christians do not have the right to slur, slander, and denigrate the doctrines of another Church, because they sounds strange!
In the Temple ceremonies, they are given Garments,as part of a Sacred ceremony between them, and God! Why do you think it is okay, to make fun of that! Do you make fun of priests vestments? Or Jewish yarmulkes?
Where do you get off? You are hypocrites of the worst kind, when you attack another persons religion!
PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!
You debunked, and disputed my beliefs, until you stripped me of my faith, and I lost it all! Double standards are a hard thing to exist with! And it takes a long and hard look at yourself, to find yourself! Loss of faith leaves a huge hole, and that hole needs to be filled up! I got more encouragement from atheists, than I did from helpful christians, who did the damage in the first place! If is a process, and not one that comes easily! But I am happy now! But, back to the LDS! Don't call them Morons? When you do that? Sorry, you are the one that sounds, and looks like a moron! Well, never mind, come to think of it, you are morons already, so be my guest!
So, anti Mormons, grow up, and become decent human beings! I know, its a stretch, but work on it!

As a Christian Fundie, I would agree with your statement. Since ALL other religions are from Satan, no other religion forces a person to recognize that they are required to make a choice - either you do it Christ's way, or you go to Hell. Other religions are not so exclusive (the reality is that you either do it Christ's way or you end up in Hell). Other religions tell you to believe in the "God" that make you feel good. OF COURSE that won't drive people away. Some religions tell you that it's OK to have sex with whatever gender or species you feel like having sex with, or do whatever drugs that you like, or that if you "do these 5 steps" you'll get to Heaven. None of them are true, but none of them push people away.
There are MANY non-atheists who will end up in Hell when they die - after following to the letter a false religion that made them feel good. In the end, the deciding factor is not whether you're an atheist or believe in God (the demons believe in God) what matters is whether or not you accept Christ as your Lord.

I am very sad to hear that you are now an atheist and once were Christian? May I ask what turned you away? The truth is, there are SO MANY religions offering something. Therefore, many of us get discouraged and just stop looking altogether. Why try to compete? Many of us get so tired and fed up of searching for the truth that many of us decide to stop believing altogether. Why would a nice God do such mean things to the human race?
Maybe that's the bottom line huh? Why does God allow suffering and death? Why didn't he just burn Satan in hell at the very beginning? If God is so powerful, why does He seem incapable of stopping it? Good question. The answer is, that if God destroyed Satan and evil at the beginning what would that make us think? I don't know about you, but I certainly would be afraid of God if He did that. Why? God would have left no room for choices of our own. True love doesn't make robots or force us to believe in something that we want to see for our own. Therefore God left evil present to allow us to see the difference between accepting Him or accepting evil. Seeing the consequences for each. God made us with brains to make our own decisions so He allowed us to do just that. Many choose to fall away from the one true God because they cannot believe a loving Creator would allow something so hideous. Well, now you know why. God didn't make robots. He made humans with brains. No, that doesn't give us the right to make our own right and wrong ideas, but that does give us a choice.
I wish you many blessings in your search for truth.

I don't know; I would think that the elevation of Reason (i.e. Rousseau) has made more atheists than any religion per se. If your "atheism" is based solely on finding fault with Christianity, then it's really just anti-Christian sentiment, not a true belief. Real atheism takes rationalism as its highest goal.
Peace to you.

That would be saying Christianity is more absurd than any other religion. I don't think that's the case. I think every religion is absurd. But you won't see as many atheists in a Muslim country because Muslim countries are ruled with an iron fist.

I disagree. From what I have seen of the world and those I use to treat (worked in psychiatry and related fields) what drive many to disbelief in a higher power or even themselves is the bad situations in life itself and has no connection to any one religion. Of the BIGGEST destroyers in life of a persons spirit is substance abuse, be it drugs or alcohol. Then you have finances, or lack of money (poverty), broken relationships (marriages), death of loved ones, war, etc, etc. I haven't found many who CONNECT not wanting to believe in a God simply because a specific religion drove them to it.

i agree. christianity is very easy to disagree with. im not saying its bad, but many people disagree with certain things in the modern world, such as : no sex, men are higher than women, women are the reason for sin, be a christian or go to hell, and it seems like a lot of churches are trying to convert others. and theres A LOT of rules. not as many as catholics or jewish, but still a lot.

It is impossible to know the truth and then not believe it. If you were a Christian then you would not worry about what people said anyway, you would do what God said to do
