So like yesterday I went to the hospital to see my new baby cousin and I was out in the hallway and overheard a lady 2 doors down saying that she just named her baby Janelle. It made me mad cause that's what I was gonna name my baby that's due in a couple weeks. I don't know if I should change her name now, but I really love it, it's not fair. What should I do?

I live in a small town and picked Janelle because noone in this town has that name, until now.

They'll be going to the same school and in the same grade, that's why it bothers me, if they were a year or more apart it wouldn't bother me.

If you love the name, go with it. Just wondering...what will her middle name be?

My sister is naming her daughter Janelle (after me--Mary Janelle). She is still thinking about the middle name. Janelle Rose, Janelle Brianne, Janelle Brianna, Janelle Leanna, and Janella Makenna are all possibilities for my niece's name.

Anyway, I think Janelle is lovely. What are the chances that those people will still be in town when your daughter begins school? Go with your gut on this one. Sounds to me like you want to stick with the name...

Good luck to you, congratulations, and best wishes to you and baby Janelle!

There are many other Janelles all over the world I'm sure, as there are many people that also have my and your name as well. So, I'd say it doesn't matter if your next door neighbour has the same name, that shouldn't prevent you from using the same name! Like why? That woman doesn't own the name or have exclusive rights to it. Go ahead! That's a beautiful name! Good luck!

You may never see these people again
Most hospital covers more than one town
If you love Janelle, than that is the prefect name
Do not change the name, because some one else named their child that.

You live in a small town with a hospital that only have babies from that town. I live in a big town, it does not have a hospital. The hospital only has patients from one town. The Hospital my daughter was born with, had several towns having babies there.

Name her Janelle....what's the big deal?? After you name her that it's just going to become popular anyway. That's what always happens. You think you have something unique then 2 weeks later there's 50 babies born with the same name...you just have to get over it!

Depends how small of town you live in, chances are if you live in a big city they won't even know each other.

The same think happened to me when I had my son. I named him Hayden. This was nine years ago and I had never heard of a little kid named Hayden. When I was feeling out the birth certificate the girl doing the paper work was pregnant and said she was naming her baby Hayden. I was kind of sad, but I have never meet that kid. He most not go to my son's school. We have only met one other Hayden and he is older. I live in a small town under 60,000.

You should still use the name. It is a good name.

If you love Janelle, use it.. People move... They may not have the same teachers anyways... They will have different middle names & different last names. I'm sure she will not be the only girl in her grade school, middle school than high school with that name.
If you feel that strong about it spell it Jannelle... Or Jennelle another option..

Actually, Janelle is very popular here in Chicago. Lots of little girls around 3 thru 8 yrs old. Name your daughter a name you love, so when she asks you, "who picked my name and why', you can tell her how special and pretty it is to you.

Honestly, just go ahead and name your baby girl that. It's what you like and it's what you've always wanted. Who cares how small the town is. If you're picking names based on the fact that no one else has it, have fun and good luck. Someone is bound to have that name and there's nothing you can do about it.

Why would you change it just because some stranger named her child the same thing? I don't like the name, but that's a stupid reason to change it. There's always going to be someone out there with the same name as your kid, no matter how ~*~kreatyv~*~ you think you're being.
