"Faith is the essence of things unseen, the substance of things hoped for."
What you are describing is trust or belief. Faith is much stronger. Trust and belief tell you that you should believe it is so. Faith rids all the doubts and gives total assurance.
The "feeling" you have could be the emotional relief you feel when faith steps in, or it could be a hundred other things.

That's a Hunch! Not faith. A Hunch is more like a gut feeling you have about an event or something that happened of which you have no solid evidence, you just think you know.
Faith is more of a mental strength. Or a belief in positivity & spirit . I have had lots of hunches about little unsolved mysteries before, some were right & some were wrong.
Faith is always present in my heart, mind and soul. It's an invisible spirit that never leaves. Every body has to have some sort of faith in something, whether it is god, family, some belief that has been instilled, an object, mankind, the weather, there Mother or Father, themselves or faith in a Hunch! Everybody has had it at sometime or other, whether they admit it or not!!!!!!!.
NO DO NOT FEAR THOSE LIKE ...lit-the-light.... Just have Faith that they will see the light in the end !!!!!!!!!!!!! And there is positive evidence they don't know what there talking about, don't you agree????

Faith is belief in something without any evidence, yes...
I have faith in me...
Faith is like hope. I use mine like a muscle. That is, I exercise it when I need or want something and I find I am usually rewarded. Maybe not necessarily how I expect, but I am rewarded. I trust my faith. That is why I use it. I don't question my faith when I don't receive the things I ask for.
No I did not always feel it. I was not as happy as I am now but I was always happy.
I respect anyone who has faith in something, even when I do not agree. It isn't my place to question what someone else believes or hopes for. I could not live with myself if I said to someone that their spiritual beliefs were wrong or misguided. It is not for me to decide for someone else what they believe.
I believe faith is something that you grow inside of your spirit like you grow a seed into a plant.
Good luck

Faith is unsubstantiated belief. You may not have always have felt it, but you feel it at the time. Your faith - and anyone's faith - should be respected. Not necessarily SHARED, but definitely respected.

We practice faith all the time in our everyday lives. We can only believe that another person loves us, we can not prove it scienifically. We come to know people in our heart, and know what actions they would and would not do.
As such, anyone who had a heart (Burt Bacharach song), should not be completely unfamilar with the situation when believers saying they know God in their heart.

Having faith in God is created.. No one can prove there is a God.
Having faith in oneself is positive thinking and cause one to feel good about themselves
Cutting down one that has faith in God or oneself is wrong because there is generally no harm that comes from these people.
When one cuts down another is showing they think or believe little in him/her self.
I try to say to everybody the following:
LET GOOD THINGS COME YOUR WAY

If you are talking about believing in God of the Bible, then, faith to God requires evidences, direct and indirect evidences. The best evidences are the universe, the Bible, and the existence of life. This is logical and reasonable faith.
But believing in evolution theory, you need a blind faith to accept this belief.
Faith in other religions? That is emotional faith..

Faith is believing in something unseen, like you have faith that the chair is going to hold you up when you sit on it, or you have faith that God is real
