Actually I know half a dozen wiccans and none of them strike me as being any more environmental than anyone else. They have wonderful things in their favor, but thats not one of them.
On the other hand, pagan does also include shamanism, pantheism, or animism which are very strongly environmental.
In many cities there are groups which meet to celebrate events such as full moon or seasonal beginnings where all of the pagan groups, such as the ones I mentioned and also wiccans, all get together for one big celebration.

Wiccan is under the umbrella of Pagan. There are Kemetics(Egyptian) Heathen (Norse) Wiccan, Celtic Recon, Druids, Shaman, Hellenistic (Greek).....It's a LONG list.
Most of us are enviormental because we see divine in many things. We want to save the earth for our kids and their kids and their kids. Eternal life is in your blood lines. Why destroy that?
In general, asking how to become a pagan is vague. But there is no secret rite to find the path. Some trads you must initiate but not all. Start reading and go from there.

You don't do anything to become one. You just read and then you either agree or disagree with what you find. Pagans in general, have a love and/or respect for nature and identify with two or more gods/goddesses. As 'Daughter' points out, there are several types. Therefore, there are hundreds of books and web sites to research through.

Wiccans are a type of Pagan.
If the only reason you are interested in Pagan beliefs is that you are interested in environmental causes, then that is really not enough. BUT that being said. I agree with Daughter that you need to read about the various beliefs.
If you are interested in more information about Hellenic Polytheism, please email me and I can send you links to LOTS of information.....

They are similar. And BOTH are very environmentally involved. To become pagan or Wiccan, you must commit yourself to study for a year and a day before taking the initiation. This can be formal with a group/coven or as a solitary. There are many good books out there about it and many sites dedicated to teaching the various paths. I hope this helps!

Go back in time to before the days when the Judeo-Christian-Islamic cult wiped out Paganism in countless civilizations.
Or did you mean Neo-Paganism?
In that case, go find some hippies. There's a New Age story in most cities.
