When in doubt, use Mayo!

It just depends on which one you like the taste of .
My family likes mayonnaise and would never eat anything I made out of miracle whip so I never buy it. I have had to throw out most of a jar.
They don't even like the light mayo.
So that's macaroni salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, sandwich spread (when putting in lettuce and lunchmeat).
Kraft Real Mayonnaise is the only thing they will eat.
I have friends that only use miracle whip and don't like mayo so it is really up to the individual tastes.
I have put some sour cream in with the mayo.

You can use either - I use Miracle Whip whenever I am making anything that will be sitting out for any length of time or if I plan to take it anywhere (since mayo has raw eggs). So I alays end up putting it in all my potato and macaroni salads, as well as my deviled eggs.

In any recipe you may substitute Miracle Whip (salad dressing) for mayonnaise, or vice-versa. Mayonnaise has more egg in it I believe, and a stronger taste, so it is all up to whether you like mayo or salad dressing.

If you taste macaroni salad from the deli it is always kind of sweet so I would say salad dressing or miracle whip.

Miracle whip makes the best salads

I make a shrimp macaroni salad & for the dressing, I use 2 parts mayo & 1 part salad dressing, plus a tsp of mustard, a dash of salad vinegar, plus seasonings of your choice, such as onion salt, seasoned salt, etc. This is probably more than you wanted to know but it makes a great dressing for a macaroni salad. It's all a matter of taste.

actually it,s a matter of personal taste.
I use mayonnaise because I prefer a savory flavor in my macaroni salad to compliment the ingredients and not mask the milder flavors of some things. like cheese.
miracle whip has a sweet zingy flavor that goes well in a sauce for something like coleslaw or a veggie slaw.Ive also used it for fruit salad.

2 cups mayonaise
1/2 cup yellow mustard
splash of vinegar
salt
pepper
garlic powder
dill weed to taste.
as a cheat ive also used a pack of hidden valley ranch dressing mix in place of the spices .
after youve mixed the ingrediants for the sauce add to the salad and mix together. after it has sat for awhile in the fridge and before you serve, you might want to add some milk ,as the pasta tends to soak up the sauce, and we prefer it to be creamy not dry.
As I said before there is no right way just your way. decide what you like and go for it.
good luck><>

Miracle Whip has more flavor, in my opinion. It also is much healthier for you.

I have used Miracle whip in every salad I have made and the results and flavor are always fantastic.

Good Luck :)

It's a totally personal preference. If you like your salad to be bit on the sweet and tangy side I'd recommend Miracle whip. That's my personal preference, but some people like a milder taste.

incredibly for me it relies upon on what i'm employing it in. If i'm putting it on a sandwich, i admire Mayonnaise. If i'm putting it in potato salad, rooster salad or tuna salad, I choose Miracle Whip.
