Ok i just got my kitty like about 1 week and some days ago.
It wasn't used to being with me because when i got it my little newphew opened the door and it got out. My kitty would come to my house but only for food and when i get near it it goes away. It doesn't have a name so i can't call it. Should i just keep trieing to make it get near me or what should i do ? ? ?

Keep food and water outside for it. Get it used to a feeding schedule. Go out and get a humane trap. When it's time to put food out, put some strong smelling cat food into the trap. Watch the trap from inside so that you don't scare it away. The door to the trap will close behind the kitty and you can bring it back inside.

Call a local shelter or your vet and see if they can help or lend you a trap. Trapping your cat may be the only way to catch it.

Get a trap from the animal shelter. They should give you a loner free of charge. Leave the trap where kitty eats with some wet food inside. Kitty will go into the trap and then you'll have kitty back inside in no time at all. This works as I have had to use this method when my son let my kitty outside to chase a mouse.

Put the food closer and closer until it is inside the door. You've got to get it back fast or it will become desocialzed (ferrel) and you don't want that!
After watch the door like a hawk!
To catch it you can try throwing a towel over it (where long sleeves at least- you don't know what it's gotten outside- and kitties scratch!)
Also- let it hide when kids come over- under the bed and keep your nephew away from it. It could end up hurting him if he tries to get it to come out from hiding. Protect them both!
Try "Cats for Dummies" book- it's awesome!

call your local shelter and ask for help. They usually have trap cages that wont harm your pet. You can then bring it inside and make sure it gets to know you. Names dont help but for the future, once you get your kitty back, get some treats. give your cat one, then make a certain noise, or call it by its name. do this constantly while giving treats and eventually your cat will always come when you make that noise, even if it doesnt get a treat everytime but it is good to reward it when it does answer your call.

If you can see it, go outside and lay down on the ground. Don't grab at the cat, just let it come up to you. I've found that when you're down on the ground, sitting or laying, cats don't find humans as intimidating and will sometimes walk right up. Talk quietly to it and don't stare at it (that's a sign of a predator).
