Dont be so quick to diagnose yourself. There is a fine line between mental health and mental illness. Many people have mild symptoms of a mental disorder, but not severe enough to be diagnosed with a disorder. The recent changes in behavior could be a part of growing as a person. I dont know what "thoughts" could be associated with bi polar disorder-it is usually mood swings from depression to manic behavior and the moods last for awhile. As far as developing a mental disorder at age 26-some people with a mental disorder are able to function and carry on a normal life, then something happens and they can no longer maintain that function and a mental disorder that has been hiding so to speak, comes out. If you really feel there is something wrong, you should see your doctor.

No, you can develop bipolar disorder at your age. You can also develop it later than your age. If you realize you are experiencing thoughts that to you are highly questionable then I would suggest you seek help. You do not say what these thoughts are but you must be concerned or you would not have posed this question. I would also suggest you see a psychiatrist or a mental health nurse practitioner. Good luck.

I know schizophnia can develop around mid twenties and is especially found in males in their twenties. Bipolar disorder's symptomes can show up anytime but somethings more severe in mid twenties. If in doubt or just for a check up see a counselor.

Get counseling. Forget bi polar disorder. That diagnosis was invented by the pharmaceutical companies because they make a mint off it!

thoughts associated with bipolar disorder? i dont understand what you are talking about?
a symptom of bipolar disorder can be flights of thoughts and ideas... thinking fast, and "tripping over thoughts".....
i have bipolar disorder and wondered if this is what you mean?
there are thousands of people of all ages, walking around on this earth who are undiagnosed, but have mental illness (look around and you will see what i mean!).

It can happen at any age. Maybe recent events brought it on. Have you had stress like a death in the family, a break up or over study lately?

Usually, but not necessarily. Dial up www.everydayhealth.com and look for bipolar disorder. It will give you a technical analysis of this disorder.
