If I swap fingers, I get eczma on the other finger. I haven't ever had a problem with jewellery in my life.

Sounds like maybe you developed an allergic reaction to it.

That can happen. Allergies can crop up at anytime for no reason at all, even to things you had no trouble with prior!

I had that happen to me with an antibiotic. I took it for years with no problem, then one day BAM, I swelled up like a balloon and got very sick.

Do you shower with it on? If you don't dry underneath it very well that could cause the dryness under it. You can also become allergic to something. It's called an aquired allergy. usually you have to come in contact with this "thing" over long periods of time (ie some doctors and nurses become allergic to latex after years of putting latex gloves on every day....) I don't think a little ring could do it, but I may be mistaken. Try this, go out and buy a $10 silver band from Walmart and wear it as your wedding ring for a while. If the skin irritation goes away, well, I hate to tell you, but you may need to buy a new wedding ring. Good luck!!

It is possible you have developed a sensetivity to the gold.

You may also have developed a sensetivity to the other metals they mix with the gold to make it usable (pure gold is too soft).

You could also be reacting to chemicals (soap, detergent, handcream etc) that is trapped on the skin under the ring.

Take off your ring, wash the ring, rince thourally and allow to dry.

Wash and rinse your hands thoroughly and dry carefully.

Put your ring on a finger that is not affected. REmove your ring any time you are putting your hands in water and dry carefully before replacing.

You can develop an allergy at any time in your life. Also, it could be a lotion or soap you are using, maybe it needs air under the ring, or you may not be rinsing your hands well enough after you wash.

are you sleeping with it on? i have eczma and when i leave my rings on for a long time it does that. it's because when you sweat or wash your hands it stays moist under your ring and it irritates it. if you moved since you got married it may also be cause by something else. do you clean your ring with something that could be dryingout your skin under your ring?
