People who left France for the New World wanted to find opportunities for a better life, to built a new society, to have religious freedom. Adventures and Discovery. The women were not all prostitutes, most of "Filles du Roy" brought by Jean Talon were orphans and poor girls.

First of all Jacques Cartier brought back the news to the King of France that there was a country across the ocean and in that country there were people who lived by hunting and trading. So the King of France annexed this new country to France and called it New France. Eventually, French people were sent to explore this new country and bring back its riches to the King. By this time people were already settling around the St. Lawrence river. So the King authorized settlements in New France. Most of the people who came here to found Québec were from the noble class. But other people came to get away from religious persecution, and have more freedom. The leaders of this new colony brought young women who were poor or orphaned and under the King's protection to be married and start working the land and populating New France, that in time the population grew and now, after 300 years or so, we are now Canada.
By the way, they weren't prostitutes, they were orphaned and poor women living in Paris. Most from orphanages. When they got here, the religious leaders, and nuns took care of them until they were married. Back then it was the law.

Some went for specific economic opportunities in trade, particularly the fur trade, but generally, for the majority of people, the economic advantages were many and real. You could more readily get land, your rents, tithes and a host of other feudal burdens were lighter (e.g. very unlikely to be subject to a corvee). You probably had a bit more freedom and, if you were a woman, you almost certainly would be able to make a more advantageous marriage.

To escape from the (even more) oppressive regime in Old France.
To trade furs.
To get married even though they may have been prostitutes.
Edit: Elise is partly right, but I snort at the "religious freedom" bit! And I said "may have been" prostitutes, which is equivalent (for any individual woman) to her saying "not all were prostitutes".
