I would like to cut a hole in the side of an 8 inch square glass block. What is the best blade to use?

There are drill bits that cut through glass and tile but they are not very big. Like a quarter of an inch. You didn't say how big of a hole you are trying to cut.

You would use a very very expensive diamond bit dill & coolant.
