I need some sweet wording to express that my wonderful Mom is turning 80 yrs old and everyone is welcome to come and celebrate. It's a surprise. Her siblings & some of their kids are coming, all from out of town.

We'll have the birthday at a hotel, so will give name & location
starting at noon
lunch will be served

Mom thinks that one of her grandaughters is being honored by her employer - so this is the ruse to get mom & dad to the hotel. Dad is in on it. I've got to get these invites mailed by Friday.

Thanks to all for your suggestions!

Michael P, I certainly hope Mom doesn't have a heart attack! She's seeing ALL of her 3 other siblings all together again - first time since 1973. So, I will bring several boxes of Kleenex with me with cameras a go-go for all who will happily record the event. I'm certain this will be the last get-together, so need to sit back and REALLY relish this special occassion!

. I've got a relative who is almost 80 so I know it's a special time. Tell everybody to bring CAMERAS!!
You do NOT really need to worry about the invitations being special. It's the Guest of Honor was IS Special!
But maybe just pick out a few highlights in her life. Like how the children turned out, college education and stuff. And the sacrifices Mom made to raise you, like maybe she didn't fulfill her ambitions and she worked hard, dropped out of school, whatever.
And maybe ONE special thing she does or did, like bake special meals, or sewed your Halloween costume or read books to you, made you study hard, and especially made you into the caring person YOU are today. 'k?

Take the easy route so you can have more fun planning the decorations. Buy large platters of fresh vegetables with dips, platters of cheeses with vegetarian condiments, and platters of vegetarian sandswiches. You can't please everyone all the time, so stick to the basics while covering the bases. The main point is to have fun and not stress over vegetarian or vegan recipes when you can buy the same things already prepared. Have fun!
