I'm interested if this is simply a 'faith specific' religious punishment in Islam, or if Christians & Jews (in the past) also executed people for the religious 'crime' of being homo-sexual.

I don't know if the bible or Torah mentions this.

Thanks

This is important because if so, then the only difference with Islam & Christianity/Judaism is we moved on/progressed? I guess....

So then the 'war on terror' is simply fighting an ancient religion - that other faiths used to be just like!

Yes. The Jews killed their gays back in the day, and Catholics and Protestants and pretty much all Christian denominations at one point either killed or severely persecuted gays.

Hi....

Judaism, Christianity and Islam, based on the same 'god' and early religious texts are the only 'faiths' that have looked on homosexuality as a sin and a punishable offence!

Before these three, homosexuality was not only allowed, but encouraged in certain nations.

The ancient Egyptians looked on homosexuality as normal, including having 'gay' temples, where only gay people went to worship their gods.
A few Pharaohs, were openly gay, including tomb scenes showing the king in embrace with his 'male' lover!

Ancient Greek culture was very aware of homosexuality and it was the norm, for men to have a younger male lover!

Greek women too, had relationships with other women!

The Roman civilisation had also a very free outlook on homosexuals, many men had relationships with the same sex, so did women and was not frowned upon.

The Roman soldiers, were taught to have a male lover that was also in their legion.
This was because, in battle they would fight along side each other, making them fight with more passion.
They were not only fighting for their lover, but also for their wife and children, Emperor and Empire.
This made them a force to be reckoned with!

So you could say that the Roman Empire, was helped to success by having the gay element!!

The three main religions of today have put 'sin' as one of the main curses of their belief system, something that former religions had not.

The fact that science 'has' discovered that homosexuality is found in the genes, makes the 'belief' of homosexuality being 'un-natural', a totally false understanding of nature and surely proves, that these religions were concieved by men, who had prejudices towards homosexuality!

There is an average of 1 in 10 of the World population, that are born gay!
This makes about 600 MILLION homosexual people on the planet!

Why would the same percentage of human beings, be born homosexual, in 'every' generation?

Surely this proves that it 'is' natural?

The Qoran requires four witnesses before the death sentence. Which means the act has to be a little bit public. The Christians, in the middle ages would execute homosexuals on the say of one witness, and they didn`t just hang them but tortured them until they signed a confession first. Thus the executioners could claim justification.

Um, doesn't it say in the bible that God Himself executed the towns of Soddom and Gemorrah for their homosexual activities? And turned one woman into a pillar of salt for even looking back to the town!

Haven't Christians and Catholics persecuted people for their sexuality for eons?

dude sometimes the politicians change the religion to what they want it to be.so judging a religion by looking at politicians and what they do is a little funny.90% of Islam dislikers judge this way.
btw I don't know if Islam says something like that about homos.

Islam is not an ancient religion as such. They are sticking to the book. For instance why should some people not think being homosexual is not punishable by death? No reason really.
We put people in jail for shoplifting for instance.

Judges 19: tells about a town that turned all gay and was destroyed.
Sodom and Gamorrah and cities round about them perished because they worshipped sex. I am sure their are many others. But Christians in the past murdered gays.

Peace to all
First of all nothing to with you what Iran and Saudi are giving penalty to gay people, if you live in Saudi or Iran then you got right to say, otherwise non of your business what they do.

As far as Islaam/Al-Qur’aan is concern about "Gay" very clear, there is no penalty for that but condemns, (No human penalty but God panalty is no doubt at all.

Look what Al-Qur'aan said....

[7:81] "You practice sex with the men, instead of the women. Indeed, you are a transgressing people."

[27:55] "You practice sex with the men, lustfully, instead of the women. Indeed, you are ignorant people."

[29:28] Lot said to his people, "You commit such an abomination, no one in the world has ever done it before you.

[29:29] "You practice sex with the men, you commit highway robbery, and you allow all kinds of vice in your society." The only response from his people was to say, "Bring to us GOD's retribution, if you are truthful."

[29:30] He said, "My Lord, grant me victory over these wicked people."

[29:34] "We will pour upon the people of this town a disaster from the sky, as a consequence of their wickedness."

[29:35] We left standing some of their ruins, to serve as a profound lesson for people who understand.

[11:82] When our judgment came, we turned it upside down, and we showered it with hard, devastating rocks.

[11:83] Such rocks were designated by your Lord to strike the transgressors.

God may Guide you

There is a growing epidemic of excepting things which go against the natural progression of life.It is an abnormal behaviour.Am generally a understanding person but they deserve to be buried for there inhuman practises.

Islam is an all inclusive system of life which regulates all aspects of life and God has placed moral conduct at the highest part of regulating a humans character.

Like all other things that change to suit the need and desires of ever changing people it has been in-acted as law' that they can marry and adopt children it's called a "nuclear family" does this sound normal? but yet we except it as normal.

May God guide those who only follow there desires.Amen
