Okay, as of this writing I have seen no evidence of God, and neither has anyone else. He hasn't "appeared" for thousands of years, and I have some questions to ask him. In his absense, I have decided to ask the next best thing: Yahoo Answers.
SO.
Do animals go to heaven? They don't worship. Come to think of it, neither do houses or cars. Is Heaven just crowded with people sitting on their rear, doing nothing?
And speaking of the people, whats the deal? Is heaven full of old farts who died on their beds at 90? Are the ones who died in horrific accidents bloodstained and broken?
By the logic of religion, hell should be full of the non-believers. However, the humans completely overrun by EVERY ANIMAL THATS EVER LIVED. Whats the deal?
And lastly, why does the Church keep changing it's viewpoint? When Galileo was alive, he discovered that the universe wasn't centered on earth. The church had him killed for his findings. Why don't they anymore? Thanks!

Just in case you actually care about accuracy. Galileo did not discover that ‘the universe did not center around the earth’ it was Copernicus, nor was Galileo killed by the church, but was placed under house arrest for a number of years until his death. The affair with Galileo was over his support of the Copernican theory (simmiler to the islamic model at the time) which opposed the geocentric model (earth center) based of the work of Aristotle and Ptolemy.
Which ironically, is something many forget, that the reasons that the Copernicus model and other such theories were controversial at the time was not only that the church endorsed the works of Aristotle as being the ‘truth of science’ but also most of the scientist at the time did not support it because it was non-observable. Much of the science of astronomy is not based on what can be observed but on reason and math. Observable data leads to the conclusion that the sun orbits the earth until you take into account that the earth rotates on its access. The outer planets will appear to rotate around the observer on earth, until math is used to find the center of their orbit. Red shift means little until it is applied with the math that relates it to distance and movement. It is easy to ‘observe’ such things now with our high powered telescopes, satellites, probes and understanding of higher mathematics, but step outside with a pair of binoculars and see what conclusions you come to just using observable data.
How does this answer the only part of your question which was not silly? Facts are useless unless they are also true, and even when they true they must also have reason applied to them. Opinions change when either the facts are determined to be wrong, our reason is faulty, or a new fact is discovered which changes the over all meaning.

Damn, heaven doesn't sound so good after all, does it? ;)
Well, I'm with you Hon. I think organized religion is an abomination. If Jesus and his Apostles were alive today, they'd for certain be considered a cult...I mean, people, think about it. Doesn't his story sound a whole lot like David Koresh and the Branch Davidians?
The only difference is that Jesus lived long enough ago so that his story became more embellished and thrived over time. (Ever wonder why we don't see "miracles" performed anymore?)
And think about all those different sects of Christianity, every one of them claiming to be the "right" one. Every single offshoot of Christianity was founded by a HUMAN BEING and THEIR interpretation of the Bible.
Now, I do believe in some sort of afterlife, the reason being that I've seen the ghosts of two individuals who I was once very close to. But I don't believe it's "heaven", and I sure don't believe in "hell" (that's why karma exists!) I don't pretend to know what's to come, but I'm sure curious about what lies on the other side!

Great questions. As with everything else spiritual, I think perhaps you are thinking too literally....not sure in heaven we keep our worldy bodies anyway, maybe we are just a pulse of energy?
That whole theory that God created the earth in 7 days....seems absolutely unbelievable, so perhaps 7 days back then isn't the equivalent to 7 days now....see, the whole literal thing.
And the animal question leads me to my own....why do I feel guilty when I kill a bug?

i dont know how animals fit into the equation, but i would assume they would be in heaven to. with that, they wouldnt be in hell because they dont have the capacity to choose wrong or know the consequences of that decision.
i dont know about inanimate objects. sorry. I am sure there is more to heaven than existing...
I believe that you are resurrected to your perfect form, and any scars etc would be healed and not show.
as far as the church is concerned, they dont have any prophets to keep them on track with god's will. it is all men, so thats your answer.
make sense?

By your words: "the Church" are you referring to Catholics?
I am not Catholic, but I am a believer in Jesus Christ.
At the end of the Millennium the Great White Throne judgment will be given to all non-believers. At that time, hell will be full of non-believers.
Animals do not have souls, only people do.
May your eyes be opened to the truth.

In my opinion, animals don't have a soul.
People go to heaven for their faith in Christ.
And only the Catholic Church has killed for things like that. Look at Protestant churches. The only "Holy Crusades" were those of Billy Graham, and he didn't have to kill any Muslims or conquer Jerusalem, like the Catholic Englishmen did.

Knowledge is a fine thing instead of asking questions here and hoping for some answers that you may or may not like why not go to the source for these answers?

confident, I agree. besides the shown fact that there are a minimum of two motives that this occurs. a million. Political and ideological intolerance. occasion Pentecostals/MORONS vs Unitarians, or different liberal denominations. 2 opposition in attracting followers, moneys, and political impact in actuality liberal theologians and church homes are greater advantageous to illiberal actual wing denominations like Pentecostals, Westminster Baptist Church, and the Southern Baptists. wish this helps

Heaven is beyond anything we can think, dream or imagine.
But you needn't worry about that. I mean, it's not like you'll be going there or anything.
As for the church changing its viewpoint...PLEASE! Look at your god of science...and then let's talk about who is the most inconsistent in their beliefs.

Your premise is wrong.
You said," Okay, as of this writing I have seen no evidence of God, and neither has anyone else."
That's not correct.
Try again.
