As a matter of fact there are sects that still do not allow their people to go to the Doctor JW's I believe. Look just because Christian's are certain of their final destination, this does not mean that they need to negate the fact that God gave doctors the wisdom to heal. We are all going to die, it's about quality of life and no it is not hypocrisy to go to the doctor, and what Christians against science???? My mom's a Doctor and we are Christians. Let me ask a favor, please don;t generalize, I realize there are a lot of funky people out there misrepresenting the faith, sorry for that, but try to be open, just like you want us to be, you may just find a cool Christian or two or three out there.

No, it's not hypocritical. Just because we know where we're going doesn't necessarily mean that we're in a hurry to get there. Likewise, just because we're not scared of death doesn't necessarily mean that we want to die just yet. Like most other people, there are a lot of things on Earth that we enjoy doing and aren't ready to give up, and a lot of things we want to do before we die. Besides that, most Christians do both: go to doctors and pray, that is. We believe that it was God who gave humans the knowledge and technology to make our lives longer and more comfortable. I know the misery of illness and I thank God for the knowledge, medicine, and technology available to ease the suffering. BTW, most Christians are NOT anti-science by any stretch of the imagination. I am a biologist who also loves chemistry and physics. I got my degree from a Christian university, and I'm currently studying nursing at another Christian university. Neither I nor my science geek friends understand why some people insist that the Bible and science are mutually exclusive.

I don't understand where anyone gets the idea that Christians are anti science. Is the theory of evolution the ONLY discipline of science there is? Isn't chemistry, biology, astronomy, nuclear, molecular etc ALL science?
To a Christian, Christ is the author of everything - and He has given them the capacity to discover and indulge their curiosity with all things scientific.
I would have to say - just as some non believers entreat believers to study the theory of evolution.... some non believers need to study what Christianity is as well so they can clear up fallacies such as this.

Man are you mislead. Luke was a physican. Science Is catching up to the word of God,not the other way around. Sinner or saint we all make bad choices concerning our health. Prayer Is always first. God uses many avenues to bring about healing. Who do you think give that person the ability/skill & desire to be a doctor or scientist ? God did. The world and everything In It was created by God !

Hey Dude.
I'm Catholic and I don't consider myself "anti-science." That's a stereotype...and a bad one at that. Science is valuable.
I go to the doctor to make sure that I live this life as healthy as I can. It's for myself and my family. I would like to live longer so I'm around for them. It would be both selfish and hypocritical if I just "let myself go" so to speak.
I addition to seeing a doctor, I also pray.
Hope that helps.

Christians aren't anti-science. Please tell me the source where you find this distortion. Heaven doesn't negate life here on earth and going to the hospital is managing health and well-being--nothing hypocritical about that. Simply praying to God? Now that is just a twisted. God is the one who gave us reason and the capacity to create science. There may have been distortions in history; do not take historical christianity as the standard by which to judge christianity. There have been distortions of Christ and God as well as christianity.
Atheism fails to give God authorship of creation and the very reasoning capacity we really ought to use to give thanks to God.

Because they are mortal, imperfect creatures until AFTER they die. So they are governed by fallible, mortal, imperfect thoughts & fears. Even Jesus cried out in anguish at the time of the passing of his earthly body.
And being Christian has NOTHING to do with being anti-science. Einstein was a believer, yet one of our most prominent scientists. But he believe in God, and didn't believe in evolution. Some Christians may choose not to take part in some aspects of medicine or of science, but you can't generalize that on all of us.

My Master said sick people need physicians. Luke was a doctor if people Paul does not recognized science he sholud have not commended Luke.
God is the first scientist, I hope you study the Bible to learn more. A lot of people read the Bible without knowing the character of God.

Christians do have families, husbands & wives & even children, so would it be the christian type thing to do to give up on anything that could prolong their lives and thereby allow their families a chance to grow up loved and taken care of properly? Would you want your parents of children die without trying all options, I would hope not! Remember Christians are people like yourself just with a different life style.

One of the writers of the Bible was a Doctor. Matthew, Mark, LUKE, John. Luke also wrote the book of Acts.
We are not anti-science......or medicine. Why would we be?
Yes, I believe I am going to heaven when I die - and I'm not afraid of death, however, I want to be well when I'm here so I pray about my health, I eat right and I see my doctor. It's just common sense.
