No.

Masturbation would break the vow of chastity.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

With love in Christ.

Ask a priest you trust. The practice is discouraged among all men of faith for the reason that it is usually accompanied by lustful sexual fantasy, and our Lord said that that looking upon a woman with lust was a form of adultery. Some may think it is a benign habit, like nail-biting. But habits become obsessions, and obsessions addictions. Married men may find more kick in their fantasies than with their wives, resulting in spoiling what was meant to be a joyful union. You know, I'm sorry some of the replies here have been so mean-spirited. Priests are humans like anyone else and face self-doubt and temptation, and they fall. The recent scandals are indeed horrible, though it is useful to know that fewer than 4% (some estimate 3%) of priests have fallen in that way, a far lower rate than in other helping professions. It just got a lot more publicity. Another interesting thing is the way the media shaped it as a child-abuse story, which in many cases it was, terribly so. However, the majority of those victimized were male teens, and no one in the secular media was brave enough to cast it as a homosexual story. The media culture couldn't bring itself to do that. My understanding is that the church is taking extraordinary steps to train all personnel, ordained and not, in child protection and in the reporting of problems. At the same time, the church is vigorously addressing the problem of the underground homosexual culture it allowed to flourish in its seminaries out of a spirit of tolerance (since the church doesn't condemn homosexuals, but says homosexual practice is the problem). I know in this sex-soaked society it is hard for many to think that there are men who reject the world's materialistic and sensual values and live in a radically counter-cultural way with regard to their bodies. But there are many, and they deserve respect for their courageous choice.

Obviously not or they would not be seeking young boys to satisfy their unholy lusts constantly...perhaps some join the priesthood with this "end" (pun intended) in mind.

As I understand it the rules have been somewhat relaxed, due to health problems that go along with a lifetime of celibacy - but I am certainly no authority.

Peace!

As a matter of fact no. This lack of ejaculation is very unnatural. Men are supposed to ejaculate once in a while or else the body is forced to do it to itself in your sleep!!

So these priests wake up sometimes with a surprise stain in there underwear.

Gross and rediculous isnt it.... too bad there fictional religion did not think of this.

It must be. I think they would all commit suicide if they weren't allowed masturbate, since they can't have sex with anyone.
