1 tbl per 4-5 cups water Adding it to the drinking water will also help prevent tear stains on white dogs. I have heard it would reduce the urnine smell in whole dogs who scent mark but have no personal experience with it for that use.
you can also
Mix it 50/50 water and use as a rinse after baths, let dry on coat don't rinse it off. This same mix can also be used as a between bath spray on (part hair on long breeds) for itchy skin. Will soften coat and make it shiney also removes the doggy smell.
It won't stop a flea infestation you will need a spot on type product to break the cycle but it does change the dogs ph and makes them less desirable to fleas.
It is also used to change urine ph for dogs with UTI but a vet should be consulted with any UTI.
Some give it directly diluted into can food if the dog won't drink the water. Never give straight or on an empty stomach. Dogs will often eat and drink things we would not. Their preference is different from what we like, a lot of them don't mind the flavor.

About as effective as putting vinegar in a child's water to prevent lice.

Not that I know off. I have used white vinegar for a Goldens coat to make it shine (owner requested it). All it did was make the hair course and smelly.

call your local vet first to make sure its safe but ive never heard of that before and probably would never try it. but you can buy stuff for fleas like advantage or advantage multi which does heart worms, intestineal parasites such as, hookworms, round worms, and whip worm, it also kills fleas in 3-5 mins. and also does ear mites. it may seem like it costs alot but for everything you get out of it, its actually a great deal. but PLEASE dont buy a flea collar from the store they can be very dangerous.

No. In fact, if you put vinegar in the dog's water, the dog probably won't drink it. Where did you ever hear something like that? Would you drink water that smelled and tasted like vinegar?

Gross - why would you do that? Would you like even a drop of vinegar in your drink?! Get some proper flea treatment from a vets, and just stay away from stuff that's sold in stores. Proper flea treatment is both safe and effective - and non-stinky.

You "could" put vinegar in your dogs water but don't be surprised if your dog throws the bowl at you...
