When I was 13, I took the cane off my music teacher after she started whacking me with it.. and I made her stand in the bin... I didnt even hit her and she was wimpering with tears down her face.
Would that make me a better Christian?

Some people used to think this meant hitting a child. Does anyone really think that Jesus would condone hitting a child?
Psalm 23: Thy ROD and thy STAFF, they COMFORT me.
The shepherds used to use the rod for guidance, helping the sheep follow the correct path, and the staff was used to assist with walking a rocky or difficult path. Now apply that as a metaphor to raising and guiding a child, and the picture is very different.
However, in your case I hope your parents make an exception to this and use it soon!

You are quoting The Old Testament. Many Christians do not believe in corporal punishement. They do not BEAT a child; however, they do "discipline" their children. There is a big difference.
I realize this makes no difference to you. You have already made up your mind to hate all Christians and to mock them.
I wish you well. Have a good evening.

Unbelievable! Sparing the rod does not mean to beat your children. He who loves him is CAREFUL to discipline. DISCIPLINE is a process whereby you train your children to learn to be self reliant and responsible. At times a young child may test your authority. Yes if all other methods of discipline fail than corporal punishment may be called for. THIS DOES NOT MEAN BEATING>

and your point is ???????????????????????
i think that is good advice irrespective of religous beliefs
perhaps you did not receive discipline as a child and you have grown into a fully fledged noodle who has nothing better to do than question other peoples beliefs
if you ever had children you may do well to remember your own question lest they grow up to be like you
please retort this will be fun

i was spanked by christian parents, and probably should've gotten it more!
I work in a public school, and i think more kids need some butt bustin'.....they run all over their parents. Can't imagine what they'll be like when they're teenagers.
There's a big difference in spanking and beating. Child beaters should be beat.

It means dont let your kids run wild idiot, apparently yours let you....teach them to respect, how to be ppl of integrity and character so they will be able to judge right from wrong and not be based in shallowness and ego and go to hell for it. And obviously your just one of those ppl who LOOOVES to pick out scripture, distort its context and think highly of yourself for being clever just like the other million ppl out there who **** on religon so why dont you just go find something you DO care about and leave everybody and God alone :)

Do not allow them to be disobedient. Your God has said this so clearly: "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." (Psalms 137:9, KJV)
