The last thing a 16 year old needs is a credit card. At 16 you do not have enough control to use one. Get a pre-paid credit card.

Some Credit Unions allow 16 year olds to get a 'secured' credit card. This means with a parent you put money in a savings account. You must keep this money as security in the account. Then you get a credit card for the amount usually $300.00
You need to do this for at least a year, but as you are responsible with your credit your limit will increase.

Don't get one! However you may be able to get a bank debit card if you have an account at the same bank. It may just be a debit card. It's probably the wisest choice for a 16 year old.

You cannot have a credit card because you have not yet reached the "age of ascent". In other words, you are not 18 years old and cannot legally enter into a contract.

The simple answer is that you can't. It is illegal to provide a minor with a credit account UNLESS you are placed as an authorized user on one of your parent's cards.

You can't by yourself. Tyr to establish something through your parent's banks. I am sure they have some type of accounts for students.

Your parents can get you one but don't use it more than you can pay off when the bill comes. Getting into debt is easier than getting out.
